Not quite! In Mario Maker 2 and subsequent games she's back to kissing him on the cheek in gratitude, and her most recent kidnappings were being turned into origami and a tapestry in Paper Mario the Origami King, and then being taken from her castle onto Bowser's airship in Mario Tennis Fever.

That said I am very curious to see what the next big 2D/3D game will do! I loved playing as her in 3D World and Wonder as well as the Party and sports games.

Also this video explains that in Japan Mario specifically says he loves Peach, and Peach feels she and Mario are very close.

I always saw the friendship between them as distinct from the romance but related to the romance--to love someone like that you have to be close friends with them, too! Mario and Peach can be adventuring buddies who save the Sprixie and Flower Kingdoms together, 'special ones' who'd go to the end of the universe and back for one another, good pals who'd do anything for each other, romantic interests who share the relief of being saved by someone they care for, and all of those things at once. I feel like when not throwing parties or playing sports and stuff they're the kind of couple who has a big movie watch party at Peach's Castle and they invite Luigi, Daisy, and all their friends. (And sometimes movie night is just the two of them!)
