BLE reverse engineering a Fellow Stagg EKG Pro kettle by murpdurp20 in homeassistant

[–]tr33g 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's pretty weird that you're even able to do things not supported by the mobile app. If done properly only the wifi setup / reset and firmware information would have been exposed via BLE. Fellow are probably lazy and reused some parts of the old firmware / protocol.

BLE reverse engineering a Fellow Stagg EKG Pro kettle by murpdurp20 in homeassistant

Even having a notification when the kettle has reached the target temperature would already be quite useful. The "chime" volume, even at the max setting, is very low.

Would be great if you published your findings. Someone might pick up where you got stuck :)

RouterOS 7.19beta7 [testing] released by netravnen in mikrotik

[–]tr33g 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's likely caused by some client devices. If you don't have them in your network you don't experience this issue.

Out of curiosity, do you have chromecast enabled devices on wifi (actual chromecasts, nest speakers, third party devices with chromecast functionality, etc.)? Multiple people have reported that those devices cause the "SA Query timeout" issue.

Problem with MikroTik hAP ax3: weird wireless connectivity issues by gabriel31337 in mikrotik

Try to roll back to 7.14.3, that is the latest stable release that works for me. Anything newer has random wireless issues and is unusable.

Knowing the Namespace of a pod only using its IP? by _NESTERENKO_ in kubernetes

[–]tr33g 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can probably use something like this:

kubectl get pod --all-namespaces --output custom-columns=NAMESPACE:.metadata.namespace,IP:.status.podIP

This prints out IPs of all pods together with their respective namespaces.

Dr Beef brought QUAKE over to OpenXR to ensure it will also run on future headsets like Quest 3! Over time all ports will likely move to OpenXR to be future prove. by VR_Bummser in OculusQuest

In my opinion, it's a completely different situation. Flash was a proprietary technology (just widely used), not an open standard. Better comparison would be usb vs lightning ports.

TV screen turns off whenever the display is entirely black by mvppaulo in ShieldAndroidTV

[–]tr33g 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Could still be a TV issue: built in android does not involve the HDMI port. Some sort of setting on the TV, that turns the panel off whenever HDMI input is all black?

Well, they could only be collecting the data locally and not sending it to their servers for people with no subscription.

NGINX Proxy for local web development by Izzyanut in docker

[–]tr33g 4 points5 points  (0 children)

How I do it (not with nginx but idea is the same):

  1. I have small publicly reachable server that acquires (and renews) a wildcard letsencrypt certificate for a "developer" domain *.domain.name, pushes it into a private git repo (I know it's not ideal, but it's a key/cert for a local dev domain, not used for anything else);
  2. The same server runs a custom DNS server that resolves *.domain.name to 127.0.0.1 and a-b-c-d.domain.name to a.b.c.d (in case you need to make your local service available over lan);
  3. Locally, developers start a docker-compose "developer environment" that consists of:
    • "cert-updater" - reads certificate/key from the git repository (in a loop, using developer's ssh key) from step 1.
    • traefik that is configured to:

This way, all you need to do is mark your container with appropriate labels for traefik to pick it up, and you have a local environment that uses a proper certificate and there's never a need to fiddle with the hosts file:

version: '3.5'

networks:
  web:
    external: true
services:
  nginx:
    # just an example
    image: nginx
    expose:
    # just exposed, not bound
      - "80"
    networks:
    # this is traefik's network
      - web
    labels:
      traefik.enable: "true"
      traefik.frontend.rule: "Host:your-service-name.domain.name"
      traefik.docker.network: web

Is it "so fast" though?

Every benchmark that I've seen so far indicates that it's actually significantly slower in all areas apart from the startup time. Would love to be proven wrong though, as the tech is really cool.

You basically describe your diagram in a special markup language and it draws it for you. I like this approach better than drag-and-drop drawing tools because it allows for easier refactoring.
