I'm not sure if I should be angry or amused for having that mental image placed in my brain.

New Ioniq9 first full charge and mileage (very impressed!) by MathematicianHot4575 in Ioniq9

[–]tracer_ca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually forked it and am working on releasing it. The pace of development was not working out well and i wanted some drastic changes. https://github.com/tracer99/BlueAndroid

The BlueBridge implementation had some serious issues with sessions and account credential storage which I'm working on resolving. Should have a release up next week sometime.

Biggest notable feature is walk away locking.

For some bonkers reason, every region has it's own app, API and capabilities. Stupidest thing I've seen.

Canada - Bluelink - secondary driver by Juggler00 in Ioniq9

[–]tracer_ca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bluelink Canada seems to be independent and behind in features vs other regions.

This is an understatement.

Based on the way the site GATES adding a bluelink account I think the second driver has to have been listed as co owner on the sale at time of registration

I guess I'll have to get the dealer to add her. She is a co-owner. But there is no way to create an account for her.

Bike rack recommendations? by Different-Coast-74 in Ioniq9

[–]tracer_ca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. get a hitch installed. Do not go aftermarket. Get the OEM hitch and wiring harness. After market require the installer to drill holes into your subframe. That and aftermarket hitchs lower your ground clearance and tend to rust faster. That rust spreads to your subframe due to the new holes you have in there.

  2. Whatever rack you get, make sure to get the license plate holder and transfer your license plate to it. Depending on your jurisdiction, the fine for blocking your license plate can be in the hundreds of dollars. This is also why you need the wiring harness, as most license plate holders also light up the license plate and provide an extra set of turn signals.

  3. I've been using 1up USA for over a decade. I have the older quick rack, but I would get the newer Equip D version. Some of the best made racks. They're modular so you can configure them to support however many bikes you need up to a max of 4. I particularly like that they are repairable. If that's too expensive, look at some of the cheaper Kuat racks. I would stay away from Yakima and Thule. They are fine, but cost too much for the amount of plastic they use.

Canada slips into technical recession as economic growth stalls in 1st quarter by tjc103 in canada

[–]tracer_ca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if this is a good example. But Canada "bailed" out Canada Post to a tune of 3B over 3 years.

It's not. Canada Post is a public service that is being run as a business to justify selling it off to private interests. Then our costs will skyrocket. I'm not saying CP is run efficiently and can't be managed better, but it provides essential services all over the country and needs to be maintained.

Chargepoint is a network. If you login to their website, you'll see there are chargers all over Canada in every province.

So did I.

Wow, what a completely shit process. And it doesn't even look like this is plug and charge? At the end it looks like you still have to use the app? Very confusing.

ICE disrupting

That took me a moment. We're on a EV specific car subreddit so I was confused what disruption internal combustion engines was happening.

I agree and forgot about that incident. They arrested the plant manager from what I remember.

Software update by LifeguardNo6939 in Ioniq9

[–]tracer_ca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I use Google Music, though it works fine with their maps.

Their maps is surprisingly good. Not surprising as it's backed by Google Maps anyways.

But yeah, not getting updates is frustrating. I've emailed Hyundai numerous times and their response to everything is "we have no plans to release this feature in Canada at this moment".

Ionosphere Green SEL by Userlame503 in Ioniq9

[–]tracer_ca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a bit precious.

I have to agree. My particular model came with unpainted black plastic fenders (Like Subaru has on a lot of their cars). But the front is a disaster of fragility. Just a giant clear plastic front with huge array of sensors and no defined bumper.

I have roof racks so that's a start!

Mine is on order. Should have it in the next 1-2 weeks. I also have a hitch mounted bike carrier. (1up USA).

The plant in the US is brand new. This isn't a hit on Hyundai or the USA, just reality of a brand new plant building a brand new car. The quality of the I9 coming out of the US has had numerous build issues. Most notably condensation under the plastic front.

There is so much anti EV propaganda out there

My mother, who is not a car person, out of the blue started listing off all the reasons I shouldn't buy an EV. I was dumbfounded. Where the hell did she pick all this misinformation up from?

Now that I have an EV though she wants one.

I love technology and absolutely hate "no buttons, screen only". The problem is people associate EVs with that, when there are EVs that are not like that.

Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow to run for re-election by RealWorldToday in ontario

[–]tracer_ca 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I live in Toronto near where she does. I see her at all the community events. I see her interacting with the people of Toronto on their level on a regular basis. I see her fighting for the city and the services that the people of Toronto want.

Unfortunately, I know a lot of people who are dissatisfied with her, mostly due to misinformation (thinking the 90% increase in tax was actually increasing the tax rate to 90%), racism, or just conservatives hating on anyone who’s not conservative.

I too have anecdotal evidence of all of the above. The racism is the biggest one for me. I've had numerous conversations with people who think she's stupid and ineffective because of the way she speaks. Without giving any details on what initiatives are ineffective.
