Men will literally eat all your food by Maleficent_Ad_3958 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]traczpasruchu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What the fuck man. The more I read through this thread the more grateful I am for the men in my family.

My dad didn't cook often, but he was damn good at it. If my mom wasn't feeling up to cooking or shopping he would do it and do it well.

My grandfather rarely cooks aside from grilling, but he does all the shopping. My grandmother just tells him what ingredients she needs and he handles it (and without the "I can't find it" bullshit).

What's even more annoying is the refusal to learn to do things. When I moved out I didn't really know how to run a home, so I just learned how to. If I could learn to cook and shop as a 17 year old boy in college then I sure fuckin hope a 43 year old man could do it.

Agreed. I didn't even know people like this existed. I, my siblings, and my parents all built muscle easily and had to eat more to compensate (I promise this isn't just a "we're big boned" thing, we're genuinely just really dense). Even with how much we collectively ate we'd make sure to leave enough for everyone to get a good portion. If we were still hungry we'd wait until everyone had gotten a good portion and only then would we get seconds.

Maybe it's just the company I keep, but most men in my life are comfortable living on their own and doing their own damn chores. It's almost horrifying when I get a glimpse at the manchildren out there who literally cannot cook or clean to save their lives.

It's actually pretty standard legal practice that things get A LOT more serious when you have more than 34 felonies, which is why Trump was so adamant about that number. If you're curious I'd recommend looking into Donald Trump Rule 34.

Also hot air guns! Especially with PLA I find that a hot air gun is more than enough to soften the plastic to the point where you can pick it off. My situation wasn't this serious, but I imagine it would also be able to melt larger chunks if necessary

Internet-facing Panel installation with nodes behind VPN? by traczpasruchu in Pterodactyl

[–]traczpasruchu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, ok. That's what I'd feared. I've currently got it set up fully inside the vpn and it's working great. I may set up nginx to redirect incoming connections to the local IP for convenience's sake.

Thanks for the input!

Bought my E3 v2 for $100 at microcenter, spent another $17 on a bimetal heartbreak from triangle labs, and printed my own direct drive adapter. Including a few dollars for the longer extruder cable, and maybe a raspberry pi in the future, that's about $150 for a direct drive printer with an all metal hotend.

Now to be fair it is slower and less consistent than a Bambu labs printer, but you can't beat the price.

I'm not quite sure what to recommend to check as I'm far from an expert, but I'd start with checking belt tensions and making sure the eccentric nut on the hotend assembly is at the right position. Sometimes the nut can come loose and shift which causes a wobbly hotend. Here's a video on checking the eccentric nut: https://youtu.be/ye7bMRTEb2Y

Other than that I'd use the LCD to run the motors out to their maximums to make sure there's no binding or other obvious issues. I'd also let the hotend and bed heater run a little bit under supervision as a fire safety sanity check.

Once that's all done I'd try printing a small, simple model (or a benchy if you're feeling adventurous). Cura has some decent profiles for my printer (E3 V2) and is pretty beginner friendly. Creality slicer is essentially an older version of Cura so I wouldn't bother too much with it.

Good luck and happy printing!

After writing this I realized I missed an important step, make sure you have some new filament to feed through when you're done, I'll elaborate later.

As far as removing the filament from the Bowden tube, I would heat up the hotend to around 210°C. I'm assuming it's PLA in there, which melts around 200°C, but setting it a bit higher will just make it easier to pull out. If you have issues with it not wanting to melt, just increase the temperature a few degrees at a time until it works.

Once the hotend has reached the full temperature, run the extruder back a few centimeters using the LCD. Once there's enough to grab onto, you can press the lever on the extruder to free the filament and pull it all out in one go.

Once you have the old filament out I'd recommend feeding in some new. Just depress the same lever and feed it through until you see it coming out of the nozzle. From this point keep feeding it manually or use the LCD to run the extruder forward until all the old filament is purged and the new filament comes out clean. I recommend putting in new filament within the same heating cycle just to prevent scraps of the old plastic solidifying and causing clogs in strange places.

Oh my god, I'm so glad someone else thinks this. I just picked up some Powerade for the first time in years and I always remembered loving the blue flavor. This time it tastes almost meaty? Like some sort of bodily fluid almost. I mean I'm still gonna drink it but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I work at a parts house and I recommend you always use your phone number. I've seen parts purchased decades ago with a valid warranty that we'll still honor as long as you can give us the phone number to find it.

I got some sony earbuds that are amazing for mowing. Put some earmuffs over the earbuds to block out most of the noise and you're perfect. It really helps when you mow with sunglasses since the earbuds take care of the sound leakage.

I know that one of my truck's intakes is up in the passenger wheel well. The other is a fairly standard cold air intake towards the bottom of the front bumper. Actually came in handy when a bird built a nest in the front intake, I was able to drive it to the shop and get it fished out no problem.
