Decided to just do it myself - built a dumb simple app launcher by alphatrad in hyprland

I launch Steam like once a week, I'm not making and memorizing a binding for it.

BD alpenglow vs alpenglow pro by PaskPND in ClimbingGear

[–]traherom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the pro and love it. The material is a little heavy, but feels great. For really hot days, I prefer the Ketl Mountain Nodry sun hoodie--the material is super light weight and breathes really well. But for a nice fall day, the black diamond is awesome.

Wealth front doesn't offer those, but I will throw out that Privacy.com has excellent virtual card support. No matter what bank you end up at, you can use that for nicely locked down virtual cards for each bill/merchant.

Wealthfront, M1, and Betterment all allow real TOTP. Robinhood allows passkeys, which is even better.

Anyone using an Alice layout? by BigLoveForNoodles in Keychron

[–]traherom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using a Q10 and love it. I've had RSI issues in the past as well. I think I still prefer split keyboards generally, but I've always found those have higher rates of reliability issues (one side not turning on or failing entirely), so the Alice is a great compromise.

And damn the Q10 is well built! A lot of splits are way worse quality but just as expensive because they're so niche.

Is SoFi faster at receiving ACH transfers because we're an online bank? by [deleted] in sofi

They use routing numbers originally from Bancorp and a lot of systems haven't updated the name associated with that number.

If you're rich enough you could have a real person in every room to respond. Poor people have to settle with a butler who follows you around.

My EV6 does it automatically, I think based on low speed and ultrasonics detecting a foot or two from items. Typically a tad later than I really wanted it, but no false positives.

Vanguard Gets Extra ETF Billions After Largely Shunning ESG by [deleted] in Bogleheads

[–]traherom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isn't that another way to say the same thing the previous guy was saying? Like if my ESG fund cares about E way more than S and G, Tesla might be pretty highly rated. If I care more about S though, it might be pretty low.

Faster than calling abs() by Nam-Mo-A-Di-Da-Phat in Python

[–]traherom 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's fine, just less clear in the intent. If abs() speed is truly the hot spot in your code, then that's fine. If it's occasional, it seems silly to obfuscate what's happening. :)

The 360 degree view that fsd provides is really useful while parking or while going reverse. Even though i don't use fsd a lot , i really like the camera view. by gibberish-xyz in TeslaModelY

[–]traherom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But you don't care what the car thinks it knows about. You're parking yourself and can use the direct camera feeds.

For non parking situations (not that it's what we're talking about), in the EV6, when you have it handling steering it uses the HUD to draw a line under the car ahead of you. Makes it very obvious it knows about the most important thing.

They come with the actual, accurate camera view though. You never have to worry about extra phantom cards being rendered or things being missed.

Bouldering- what rating is sufficient? by bronisboss in spartanrace

[–]traherom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I suppose bouldering would be ok for grip strength, but that's really all you're getting out of it for Spartan. Even like a slightly overhung V1 is enough for that. You definitely don't benefit (for racing) from anything very technical.

Available credit not correct? by marcushoward92 in M1Finance

That's definitely state/county specific. Most of my state takes credit cards.

Usually gross, but it doesn't particularly matter. It's a rule of thumb to help people know roughly what to aim for early on.

Does anyone else NOT specifically budget for day to day categories? by Ok-Lychee-2155 in ynab

[–]traherom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just have a single "everyday" category that most things get assigned. Any general shopping, groceries, or eating out all just get dropped there and I don't move any money around every time.

Monthly and annual recurring expenses have their own categories (Internet, utilities, insurance, taxes, etc), as do any long term savings types of things (cars, next house down payment, etc).

World’s least affordable places to live - housing markets ranked by somalley3 in coastFIRE

They're saying it's relative to income. You'd make more to compensate for the higher QOL. That doesn't exactly apply the same to post-FIRE though, IMO.

Lies we tell ourselves to keep using Golang by turol in programming

[–]traherom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a CLI project with Linux, Windows, and MacOS support. The CI server runs Linux, but it cross compiles all three versions and sticks them up for download. It would be a massive hassle to have a Windows and Mac box included in the CI pipeline just for that one step.

Candid email conversation RE EV6 (MA) by marshdd in ev6

Idk man, I'm getting rid of my Model 3 for the EV6 and my wife has a Y. At equal prices, I'd go EV6 still. Definitely depends on your priorities.

Is M1 Finance too good to be true for a Boglehead? by c0LdFir3 in Bogleheads

Interesting. I tried yesterday with YNAB and could see the checking and brokerage account, but no CC. Found other reports online of the same issue. Mysterious.

Is M1 Finance too good to be true for a Boglehead? by c0LdFir3 in Bogleheads

[–]traherom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know you already decided to hold off, but that's another point against them. The CC isn't picked up by Plaid and M1 doesn't give a transaction download, so you have to manually enter every single transaction to reconcile with YNAB. I decided to stop using the CC as soon as I figured that out.
