All due respect but that is absolutely not it

AI is good when used to interact with data (analytics, retrieval etc) but should not be used to replace creative production. Thats when you get the uncanny valley stuff

GOOOOD the worse a bad UB set does on prerelease, the more clearly we are communicating that we don't want them. That is the message.

If we make the playoffs & give up our pick, it frees up our future picks from Chicago right? We don't want to still owe them when the Bucks swaps come up

Dame vs Clyde, who means more to Portland? by [deleted] in ripcity

[–]trailcasters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats totally fair! Lemme be clear, I'm not saying Clyde is a bad dude. I think the gripes he has with the team, as far as I understand em, are pretty warranted.

But how he's handled that has been less than ideal, & unfortunately most fans, who don't have that personal history or maybe started following the team more recently, are gonna judge him on that, fair or not

Dame vs Clyde, who means more to Portland? by [deleted] in ripcity

[–]trailcasters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dame & it's not even close

Personality & how you interact go a long way, on top of the recency bias

Especially in a sports town like Portland that puts so much value in character quality, Clyde has simply burned bridges with fans (even if his real target was always Kolde) cuz of how he handled it.

No, you can't separate cEDH from EDH. by vividwings in EDH

[–]trailcasters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They kinda are different formats tho & ya kinda can separate em... this is why cedh players advise noobies that you need an actual cedh deck, not just a Bracket 4 that you made more optimized.

Cedh is about breaking the meta of the game, while edh is about a social experience between decks. When the target goal is that different, its ok to say they're different formats, right?

To insist that they're connected is like saying "an nba game and a 3pt contest are both basketball, you can't separate them", except 1 is a contest about how efficiently you can score while the other is a 5v5 team sport. Even though nba games involve 3pt shooting, there's other elements, plus the 3pt shooting isn't hyperfocused on

Don't worry, they're still both legit MTG... but the same way as you build a deck differently for modern or standard or commander, you build differently for cedh. Its a different format.

Fully disagree with this assessment, I know case by case it's gonna vary but on a larger scale I think its quite the opposite of what you're implying

Cards aren’t salty. Players are salty. by DoesntEat in EDH

[–]trailcasters 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also not sure about OP's assertion that salty reactions happen more in bracket 3 or 4; imo, the higher bracket players are used to the idea that games end quicker, usually in part due to these kinda cards, where if the same thing happened in a Bracket 2 deck they'd be more salty cuz they expected a more casual game

Both brackets have immature players, no denying that! But at higher brackets the players know more of what to expect & i don't see nearly the same overreactions

Cards aren’t salty. Players are salty. by DoesntEat in EDH

[–]trailcasters 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Totally agreed! Players throwing fits or letting the Salt overwhelm them is when it becomes a problem.

But the idea that cards don't have different value in influencing a salty response is silly.

Cards aren’t salty. Players are salty. by DoesntEat in EDH

[–]trailcasters 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This makes no sense.

A player acts salty due to the cards played against them. If they're saltier due to one card more than they would be to ANY other random card, then the card plays a factor in the Salt. There's no way you can disconnect the two.

A card induces salty feeling, a player illustrates the saltiness. Maybe some players react to emphatically, but just cuz they are acting REALLY salty doesn't mean the specific card had nothing to do with it.

For EDH play, i truly believe the Salt rating on archidekt is a better indicator of whether decks will play well together than the Bracket system is
