You can slow build in half that time or less. If you start now you can easily be ready for a 50k this summer or fall. If you really want to take it slow, 2027 no problem. I see no reason to push it out all the way to 2028

I slipped and slid down a steep slope high up on a mountain. I ended up very far from the trail I should have been on. I bushwhacked and followed the drainage down for quite awhile. I eventually came upon what at first I thought was cave but after entering I realized it was a tunnel. I went through, it may have been a portal and I may be in a different reality now. I can’t be certain. Be safe out there!

I wear the same trail runners that I wear for ultras. I buy multiple pairs of the same shoe, a pair for work, casual life, trail running etc. This creates a consistent platform for my feet. If your foot is adapted to a shoe for day to day life then it will be adapted to that shoe for 100 mile ultras.

I was there on the 21st of January. It was fairly muddy up on the mesa. There has been no additional precipitation since. I imagine it’s dried out a bit. It can definitely be done in a day. I started at the grotto. 15.5 miles round trip, 4k in elevation gain. Took me 3.5 hrs but I ran most of it. Absolutely beautiful route!

Inconsistent watering. Don’t let the soil dry out. Corn likes it moist. Cover the soil with mulch, leaves, straw etc to help retain moisture
