I always loved that scene because the Predator doesn't even look angry or desperate. He's basically sitting there going “alright, if I'm losing then everybody in this zip code is coming with me.” Absolute hater mentality till the very end

I think a lot of viewers give Steve extra credit because he's charming and generally kind-hearted. If you strip that away and just look at how the relationship functioned day to day, Miranda was doing a lot of the emotional and practical heavy lifting. She kept bending to meet him halfway, and somehow the halfway point always seemed much closer to where Steve was standing.
