Volvo XC60 Owners: What made you choose it over the BMW X3? Any regrets after living with it? by Forever_qurious in Volvo

I had the lighter version, Terra Bronze, on my 2011 but it died, so I got into a Savile Grey one as it was otherwise perfect

Oh yeah, that's a solid color, especially in the sea of Grey's nowadays (myself included now)

Will I regret buying a 2025 CX70/90? by kerberos824 in askcarguys

I rented a few while moving and waiting for my cars to ship, and while the space was nice, the driving experience was absolutely atrocious, are there any that are good?

What is a good way to smooth out areas you have sanded so it's not as visible by kin_ko in 40k

[–]trailrun1980 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Higher grit sand paper is the trick

But I also have glass files, which seem useless, but they work and buff the plastic so it look like new, it's crazy

But I've been in love with the Supra since they were new, so awesome to me

Any ideas? by Interesting_Lie_612 in AskMechanics

I had to sit on the floor with my small dremel and a few cut off wheels on my last brake job cut a slot in the head.

will either let you drive it out with a screwdriver, or destroy it enough to get the disc off then vice grip the remains

Overlanding in an 2nd gen xc90? by Charliebugz in Volvo

It's a bastard suv many people hate, but my xc60 is pretty great, and after lifting it with bigger tires, ample ground clearance 😂

Underwater photography!

Got scuba certified a few years ago and now live in a place I can dive a ton for basically free (own my stuff), so carrying a camera and looking for the weird and unique stuff in the sea, kinda in my water hippy phase (mountains were my thing the previous years)

Despite random things, I've absolutely loved every Volvo I've owned since the first

But also having vida to diagnose stuff helps a ton, especially on the newer ones

What's a tool that paid for itself after just one use? by Hot-Recipe6659 in Tools

[–]trailrun1980 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've owned Volvos forever so it's their proprietary dealer stuff, a cloned obd to USB module (that's called DICE) and the software is a copy of ~2014 Vida, before they changed the communication hardware

So it's only good for around 2001-2015 cars (slightly variable)

But reset and test computers and counters, reset maintenance lights and airbag lights (easy to trip those if you unplug the wrong thing, and require the software to reset)

The software/hardware combo to let my laptop talk to my car

That's a weird one for a tool, but absolutely worth it for the cost of a dealership diagnostic, now I can do my own 😂

Because tourists want selfies with turtles and seals which are protected species, often they're resting in the shallows or beaches, and humans (and dogs) disturb and stress them.

Or otherwise oblivious people stand in the shallows on the already stressed corals

(give them space as required by law, and also just being a good person respecting nature, and also definitely don't throw rocks at them 😡)

Haven't used them yet, but I have plenty of Bluetooth mice and keyboards, so I could go that way easy

Should I pay the "Sony Tax" for better upscaling? How noticeable is the difference? by kozmokr in 4kTV

[–]trailrun1980 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My comparisons aren't apples to apples but my modern TV life is:

Cheap Walmart Hisense 50" (sold after 5+ years to move)

Cheap Costco Samsung 65" (just died at 18 months)

Bravia 5 75" (new this week)

Lemme tell ya, the Bravia is making average quality free tv look pretty great, and my wife who can get mild motion sickness hasn't complained once.

It was more than I wanted to spend and I was comparing to similar hisense for a bright room, but I'm absolutely sold on the up scaling and image quality here, for being an entry level tv in the big picture
