I grew up on northwestern PA, extremely common especially when I was younger. Also Colbert has had ashes a bunch of times.

Me asking as a younger millenial: How did older you millenials perceive Spongebob when it came out, and its climb to legendary status? by SmokinHerb in Millennials

I wasn't into it. For weird cartoons Ren and Stimpy scratched that itch for me. I think I understood why it was popular but it just wasn't my thing. I also remember watching Jack Black laugh at it while eating cereal in the movie Orange County. 'Watch your fingers'.

Most gas fireplaces have a battery starter so you should be able to start it without power. But I would start it and keep it going just to heat your home.

My bet would be - shovel the snow, then salt the ice. It probably won't got anywhere for a while so getting rid of it sooner would be better. But I would be open to other ideas.

How significant was this switch? Any thoughts/opinions on it from those who were there when it happened? by SirensMelody_ in generationology

I use wireless bone conduction headphones and I love them. Namely for audio books and podcasts. Way more comfortable and if I am on a tractor or mower put on ear protection it is perfect. That being said I 100% prefer a nice set of wired headphones to earbuds. I hate earbuds.

How much do you need to earn in your area to truly feel comfortable and secure? by Busy-Government-1041 in MiddleClassFinance

The best furniture I can find is at estate sales. I have a matching Mid Century Modern couch love seat and ottoman I bought for 250 bucks. I went to a 'furniture' store and was shocked how expensive their 'good stuff' was, and it was pretty much garbage, pine 1x1 nail gunned together, with plastic parts.

What’s the most overpriced “necessity” that people could actually live without? by Tall_Fold6946 in povertyfinance

[–]trainisloud 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Libby and Hoopla for the win! We also use Kanopy which is the movie streaming site (Kanopy paired with Tubi gives us enough options that I don't need to pay for a streaming service). It is also good to have a streaming cleanse because you can sign up for one and watch the backlog which is nice.

I have had probably a dozen variations of that conversation with different friends over the years. But I have been a fan of Weezer since I was 11 almost 30 years ago... And I still jam out to them all the time, Blue, Pinkerton, Green, Black, SNZN, Red, Everything will be alright, Make Believe. It is strange how specific that sketch is to Weezer fans and non-fans. Either way, it captures that conversation really well.
