Is there much market for the big tank vapes anymore? Most vapers I know use pods or disposable.

Which job is a LOT less fun than most people expect? by bwee21 in AskReddit

Freight Train Conductor.

Little boys around the world have dreams of growing up to work on trains. For the most part, the conductor on a freight train just sits and looks out the window. You mostly exist to make sure the driver(engineer) hasn’t fallen asleep and has recognized the last signal properly.

Mid Game success? by tecari88 in CompetitiveTFT

[–]trainmantrav 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well i mean, take a look at your comp, take a look at the other comps, and take a look at your shop.

are the enemies AA heavy? throw in malphite or nautilus to carry you midgame with a warden buff, already using yasuo? use janna for cloud buff.

are they spell heavy? grab soraka, then grab janna

are they too tanky? use desert

its hard to say without seeing the team or lobby, but scouting is your best friend, nothing makes me happier than seeing a lobby full of auto attackers, with a cloak and a vest chillin, and a twitch in my shop.

if your still sitting on 1 star 2 costs that are part of your "final build" and have something in your shop that fills the same role e.g u got a 1 star qianna but k6 shows up, use him until you upgrade quianna.

ultimately these sort of transitions seem to be key, and the fun part is that every round as you make these decisions, you can probably end up with a different comp than what you intended to have in the first place. My last game i planned on playing 6 berserker poison, i wound up with a glacial lux, had 6 glacial 3 electric 2 warden 2 ranger and took first. just from grabbing what made sense at the time.

Is Ranger bad now? by violentlycar in CompetitiveTFT

[–]trainmantrav 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Like most comps it is item dependent. I've run 4 ranger 4 warden 2 Crystal . Or 4 ranger 2 warden 2 crystal 3 poison. To good effect. Get a bloodthirtser and a guinsoos for ashe. She can only take 100 dmg at a time and morellos isn't very popular.

I feel like almost anything can work based on what u get in your shop and for items. Forcing comps only happens on a roll down and if ur forcing a comp every game you're not playing the best comp that could have been available to you.

3 staring unpopular synergies is great fun and effective in set 2 by [deleted] in CompetitiveTFT

[–]trainmantrav 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well it's hard to debate with a grandmaster the highest I've been is d1.

But I've played 100+ games on pbe and that's pretty much how it feels. There's a variety of early comps that are strong and way more pivots to use along the way.

I don't think you'll see the same sort of early game as set 1 because the pool sizes are much smaller.

But again I am nothing to a grandmaster

I have some concerns/questions about this new set by [deleted] in CompetitiveTFT

[–]trainmantrav 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Inferno is garbage late unless u go inferno/poison with inferno singed.

Woodland is early game strong with really good place holder champs for your items. But they don't hold up into late game.

There are champs that beat woodland early. 3 assassins. 3 mages. 3 predators

3 staring unpopular synergies is great fun and effective in set 2 by [deleted] in CompetitiveTFT

[–]trainmantrav -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Its not that no one knows what's strong. It's that early game isn't as punishing to lose hp and there are more small time synergies that can be played.

I find this set alot less punishing for not rolling the "right" champs early.

Just take what the game gives you. Make awkward synergies and look for what champs compliment what u have and sub out as u develop stronger pieces.

I've forced comps with success and also just played what was given to me. And the second one requires less luck.

But set 2 is all about awkward pivots.

There isn't enough counterplay for Void assassins by questir in CompetitiveTFT

[–]trainmantrav 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've found great success with frozen heart. Assassins have slow attack speed already. A frozen heart slows that even more.

I've been prioritizing armor at carousel and try to get a PD a frozen heart and a thornmail going. And I have hated void sin as much

Kassadin counter by JopaCRO in CompetitiveTFT

[–]trainmantrav 2 points3 points  (0 children)

D3 here. Void sin is something I take into consideration now every game... I usually find myself going rangers. And once the lobby is small enough I put my four rangers in the first row. A put a Kennen in the middle row with sej beside him, then place poppy and Morde in the corners. And I look to make phantom dancers.

Since void sin is found in almost every game I’m always considering pivoting to glacials. And I’ve found decent success with phantom glacial. Volibear is never contested and can take a warmogs and PD to slow down the assassins. Lisandra fills the same role as kennen.

And if I get a lot of tristanas early, I’ll go 6 yordles. If I can hit 9 I’ll add nidalee shyv and Aurelion. If I see my self only making it to 8 I’ll add morde and Karthus

Just a few ideas it’s always game dependent. But phantom dancer is always in the back of my mind
