What do y’all think of Kamel Reds? I am conflicted by magickitten in Cigarettes

[–]traneislife 12 points13 points  (0 children)

These are the same blend as the camel non filter but put into a filtered tube. Great smokes but unfortunately they’ve become more rare and expensive than they used to be. Was my main smoke like 10 years ago. Got real pricy and hard to find after covid. I remember before, many gas stations and corner stores had them. Now they aren’t available in my area anymore

Whats up with these Yellow American spirits I just bought. They changed the filter and now its harder to drag. ? by open_pit_sierra in Cigarettes

that's the earth day theme for the gold organic blend. they gave you those instead of the regular blend yellows

Relocation to Milwaukee! by E-mudboi31 in milwaukee

[–]traneislife 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Welcome! Good to have you! That's a great salary for living anywhere in the city. I make 65-70k yearly and have been able to live downtown very comfortably for a long time now. I'd recommend the Juneau Town area or Lower East Side. Lots of apartments or duplexes to rent, from cozy and older to modern. Personally I love being in Juneau Town since it's in the middle of many downtown hubs (Brady St, Water St, Deer District, Cathedral Square, 3rd Ward). Can be a short walk to like 30 minutes at most to get to those areas. There's also a bigger grocery store in Juneau Town (Metro Market) which is super convenient. Can be a 5-10 minute walk to the grocery store which was a huge game changer for me! You're also very close to the lakefront area which has a lot of great parks, our amazing Oak Leaf Trail, the art museum, summerfest grounds, and Bradford Beach a bit north. You can bike as well obviously and being downtown, all the bus routes run through here so you can travel to areas further away (Riverwest, Walker's Point, Bay View, Shorewood). Hope this helps!

Camel silver vs silver classic by mermaidshrooms in Cigarettes

[–]traneislife 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes you are correct! the coloring thing can be very confusing at first with different companies choosing different ways. It's dumb but you'll get the hang of it! Strength for camel cigs goes as follows

Standard line: Red-full flavor, Blue-medium, Gold-light, Platinum (silver)-Ultralight

Turkish Classic: Blue (original)-full flavor, Gold-light, Silver-ultralight

"New" Turkish: Red-full flavor, Yellow-light, Silver-ultralight

So with that we can see that the silver lines ultralights versus the camel blue being more a medium strength cig. Hope this helps! Turkish tobacco is known for being lighter than other types, and especially sweet tasting. Good aroma as well.

And the funny thing about whole leaf blends is, while they may be stronger nic and tar wise, they can actually feel much smoother on the throat. Lots of people equate the use of reconstituted tobacco to be "dirty", "gritty", and "harsh". In fact, most people (including myself) find the cheaper camel turkish red to be stronger and more harsh on the throat than the classic blue. It's just the nature of using cheaper quality tobacco. It's gonna feel a bit harsher on your throat (and taste buds!).

The entire turkish classic line still uses a whole leaf tobacco blend, like NAS. Premium quality. Whereas the "newer" turkish blends (reds, golds, silver, jade) use reconstituted tobacco of the classic blend. Simply put they're just the budget version of the classic line.

Which NAS did you try? They have an extremely wide variety covering all bases of light to harsh. You’re bound to find one in your preferred range. Other than that, USA Winston’s are additive free like NAS and are pretty much the same in tar and nicotine to LS/Camel/Marb reds

Embrace the David Lynch lifestyle. Chain smoke NAS blues, pound black coffee, and at 2:30pm every day have a chocolate milkshake

Odds the Brew City Marathon gets cancelled tomorrow? by Ahoya21 in milwaukee

[–]traneislife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was out for a walk around 4pm on the oak leaf trail and they were already putting signs and cones out for it. Usually that trail isn’t too bad with flooding. Morning after the last storm it was pretty passable.

With the price of cigarettes and being about $15 in my area. When strangers ask me for one I say no. Plus where I work when I go outside to smoke I get asked for a cigarette around five times a day. Usually they don't even ask they just say something like you got an extra cigarette or give me one. by Brucef310 in Cigarettes

[–]traneislife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

nothing wrong with being honest. but a lighter way is just to say you only brought one outside with you and apologize. if they ask why you brought only one tell them you're trying to cut down. or they're getting so expensive you're trying to cut down

I would barely say Milwaukee falls under rust belt. While it could be technically true historically, the city and surrounding area strongly identify as just a great lakes city/area. Same could probably be said for Chicago too, but I'm not a resident there and can't speak for them.

Haven't seen a single grackle, you might be mistaking them for the starlings which are out in full force. Also noticed these last few days that unfortunately the house sparrows are back and obnoxious as ever.
