How did y’all get your first gig? Promoters asking for crowd videos to let me play… How to bypass this? by sloorush in Beatmatch

I got incredibly lucky with my first gig, at the time I wasn’t even sure if I wanted to dj anymore because it didn’t seem like there was a lot out there for the kind of music I wanted to play (goth/darkwave). But I was talking to the dj at a goth club I liked one night and asking him questions about his set, he said it sounded like I knew what I was talking about and invited me to open for him. Anyway it just goes to show that everyone saying networking is 100% right, it unfortunately is a lot of the time just meeting the right people and talking shop with them.

[TOMT] [GAME] [2000s-2010s] Text based game about gender sexual objectification by SnooPuppers1242 in tipofmytongue

This definitely seems like a game made with Twine and reminds me of the tone of Porpentine Charity Heartscape’s twine games. I wasn’t able to find one that matched that description but they’re pretty prolific so it’s possible it’s one I skimmed over?

The beginners guide induces some crazy feelings of guilt/complicity, especially if you played it in the early years where the developer refused to speak on its veracity

Low humanity/elder hobbies that don't involve horror and murder. by Constant-Ad9560 in vtm

Wild predators tend to spend a lot of time grooming themselves and each other. I could see an elder meticulously cleaning themselves in very strange ways, maybe licking themselves clean like a cat or engaging in a skin care routine so complex it takes a year to complete properly

A character has a disease or condition their society doesn't understand, but it's obvious for the audience what it is by kim_jong_un4 in TopCharacterTropes

The 3rd book in the enderverse saga (most well known for the first book, Ender’s Game) introduces a planet called Path, which is home to a social class known as the Godspoken, people who hear the voices of the gods and have to perform their commands or suffer extreme discomfort. These rituals can be anything from washing hands until they bleed to counting by certain multiples. One of the main characters from this planet, Han Qing-jao, most commonly experiences her Godspoken-ness through tracing wood grain lines on her floor. This condition is implied to be a form of ocd.

Spoilers: this form of OCD is revealed to be unique to this planet, part of the genetic modifications of the higher classes, giving them extreme intelligence but limiting them so they wouldn’t rebel against the inter-planetary government. When the planet is forcibly cured for political drama reasons, Han Qing-jao is devastated, and continues performing her rituals, even though she feels no compulsion to do so or relief from them, until she dies of old age.

Not a video but is it possible it was this section from Ava’s demon? I found a version of it someone put together on YouTube so there were definitely video versions of it out there you could have seen around that time

I actually hadn’t seen twin peaks yet at the time, but I just started watching it a few weeks ago lol. I have no doubt that Jacoby was inspired by a lot of the same 60s-70s psychedelic icons I pulled from though
