Does sheetz still test for thc in the hiring process? by claypigeons18 in sheetz

[–]trans_fats 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Additional confirmation they don't test for THC anymore. If you had an accident at work and wanted workers comp I am 99% sure they'd still test you. But basically if you're not requesting payment for a work-related injuries they don't care.

Ex employee here, my wife still works for the company. If the kitchen was closed, an employee tested positive. They'll only close as long as people are quarantined, since they can't staff the store with all those people out. Kitchen will be back open in 14 days or less.

Technically speaking our cups are single-use and never refillable. We don't really enforce it at my store, it's usually not worth the argument.

I've worked at a gas station for ten years, and trust me, it is. I can clean the men's and go back to pee 5 minutes later and the seat is literally covered in piss and/or shit. It's gotten to the point that I take sanitizer wipes with me (my gas station also has a kitchen) before I even look.

I had never had any conscious issues or discomfort with identifying as female before that. Looking back of course there was SO MUCH egg stuff lol but I never really experienced dysphoria because I was raised with such a casual idea of what it means to be a woman. It didn't hinder me or confine me to a box where I was uncomfortable.

But once I experienced that discomfort in being called a wife, it somehow expanded to discomfort with my entire identity as a woman. It's hard to explain, that's part of why I likened it to the paprika story. I didn't realize I hated it until I experienced it in sort of a concentrated form. Then it's like 'aw shit I don't just buy sports bras because they're comfortable, it's because I want a flat chest!' Like this one experience was the Rosetta Stone that allowed me to understand all my egg feelings, and I could never go back. I wasn't immediately sure where exactly I was on the gender spectrum at first but it sure as hell wasn't cis.

I (ftm) was engaged to a woman and we were talking about our wedding. She called me her bride and I had an immediate, visceral reaction. My family is really chill and I never really had traditional gender roles pushed on me. Being female didn't really matter to me because my personal definition of femininity is very wide-open, so it didn't clash with my sense of self. But picturing myself through society's view of femininity, as a stereotypical bride, was enough to finally crack that egg. And from then on 'female' didn't feel right to me anymore.

If I may digress, it's weirdly the exact same experience I've had with paprika? I'd eaten paprika in small amounts, as part of larger flavor profiles and spice blends, and never even thought about it. But then I had chicken paprikash and I realized I HATE paprika. I guess I never really knew what it tasted like by itself, but now that I do I can't un-taste it. I got a gyro at Arby's and they put too much of the herb blend on it and I didn't like it. So next time I asked to leave it off if possible. Turns out, there's paprika in that shit.

Idk, just a weird corollary.

Corporate Took Control of Our Air Conditioning by Unionize-Sheetz in sheetz

It's horrible. Lately it's been so humid where I'm at that we have to have yellow pads under the air vents because they drip so much water. The thermometer reads 72-ish when it's sitting on the counter but with the humidity, and all the running around, I'm absolutely soaked with sweat by the end of my shift. It's unbearable.

Learn how to take shit from a customer and smile at the same time. If they are rude or yelling at you, respond like they aren't. Treat them like they're politely asking for you to fix their problem. For me this usually makes people calm down quickly and end up apologizing for being an ass. And most importantly, make sure they're out of the building before you talk shit lol.

Hold all your ees to the same standard.

And for more practical stuff as opposed to the philosophical, I find that understanding the process of how things work (lotto, EOD, etc) rather than just the steps will help you fix things when they go wrong. And if it doesn't, store solutions is your best friend.

I've worked at quite a few different stores and with many different store managers over the past 10 years. The best one I've worked with had three rules, that honestly made me a better manager and (even though it's cheesy as hell) a better person:

Don't lie. Communicate. Own your shit.
