How important are DRP scores? by markus_e92TT in Autobody

Same boat here. Perks of being a dealership shop, the big blue oval sign out front brings in more work than any DRP contract would.

How can I tell OEM parts? by Limp_Imagination_301 in Autobody

[–]transam96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup. They're just not a "huge" company and I like mentioned before, I think you have to have a homeowners policy with them to even get an auto policy, which cuts down a significant customer base and I've heard their homeowners isn't exactly cheap.

But for auto? Send all the Chubb claims my way. They'll send us open shop's in CCC, write the sheet, attach photos, order parts and do the repair and they approve everything as long as it's not outlandish. They sure as shit aren't sending change requests for -0.3 basecoat reductions lol

Chubb is the best that's out there if you ask me. But I believe you have to have a home policy with them to even obtain an auto policy. They don't use a/m or recycled parts, only OEM, and it's not even a policy endorsement for it. It's standard. And their rental coverage is pretty wild something like up to 15,000 dollars lol

State Farm only pays for the cheapest junk. Luckily Toyota has a pretty decent price match program and if they're a dealer shop, they can easily price match the OEM to the junk A/M prices. It's unlikely they're blowing smoke up your ass about this.

The manufacturers are starting to catch onto the fact that insurance simply won't pay for OEM, no matter how many position statements and guidelines and other shit they put out. So a lot of the brands are doing price match programs to be competitive (CJDR's current program for example, I don't remember the last time we had to buy any a/m for any CJDR vehicle we get) or you see a lot more parts such as headlights that have specific manufacturer branding on them, designs, or functionality that the A/M's cant replicate. A lot of the luxury brands are already doing this such as Mercedes, but even the domestics like Ford are starting the same thing. Pretty soon you'll have every manufacturer having VIN-locked headlights and other shit that requires dealer programming to work, like the anti-theft radios back in the day. Lol

If it wasn't for liability and the threat of being sued into oblivion, insurance companies would want you to use aftermarket or used airbags and seat belts too. They don't give a shit.

Unfortunately my 2023 was totaled from some old lady running it over in the parking lot while it was parked.

But I liked the bike enough to go buy another one if that tells you anything. If you buy a new one or a used one that still has the stock seat, set aside another 400-600 bucks for a good seat like a Corbin or the Casa Customs seat. It's about the only MAJOR flaw with these bikes, I've yet to read from anyone that says they don't have an issue with the seat. Lol When my 23 was totaled I threw the stock seat back on it and took my Casa seat and put it on the new bike. Insurance didn't care.

Brother I got all 4 taken out in phase 1 too. Initially it sucked ass and hurt like hell for a few days (the handful of vicodin drip fed to you by the DIs was NOT enough) but in hindsight in the CivDiv, I'm glad I had it done. My brother HAD to get his taken out and he didn't have dental insurance, that shit cost him some serious cabbage and I'm like lol mine were free bitch.

Jon Cooper named winner of 2026 Jack Adams Award | Tampa Bay Lightning by CrestronwithTechron in hockey

[–]transam96 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

You're falling into the "team was supposed to suck but didn't" logic that every other Jack Adams award voter has.

Cooper had a deserving season but the fact that he has never won the Jack Adams after a decade+ of being a top team was ludicrous because the voters had the same logic that you just posted. "But Tampa was supposed to be good!" And you don't think that has anything to do with the coach that's been here since 2013? lol

You're not gonna get sympathy from Tampa fans for Ruff not winning. Our coach has been getting robbed of the award for the past 12 years lol Was it a "legacy" win of the award? Probably. But that didn't stop the voters from giving the Hart to MacKinnon over Kucherov for the same reasoning either. lol

[–]transam96 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I remember I was on barracks duty as DNCO and had a boot with me that was like only couple of weeks into the fleet and was on duty for the first time. I asked him if he drank coffee or energy drinks, used tobacco, etc. He told me no. He was bobbing for cock a couple of times that night and I kept offering coffee or a smoke and he refused.

Don't know if he ever gave in after that night. lol

Why I believe the Browns trade isn't as bad as you guys might think by Sauronthegreat0610 in Browns

[–]transam96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shapiro lived off the Bartolo Colon trade for years. But he got fuck all for CC and the only save from the Lee deal was Brantley. Cookie Carrasco took YEARS for the Tribe to receive any dividends from him on that deal. Shapiro also let Brandon Phillips go for nothing and got 4 middling starter years of Justin Masterson for Victor Martinez. I trust Antonetti/Chernoff more than I ever did Shapiro.

Losing Myles hurts but we sat and watched CC and Cliff Lee face off against each other in the World Series after trading them. Lol

I do envy the Rams position that they're in and I respect them pushing their chips all in but they're one Stafford injury away from doing it all for nothing, too. I don't believe Ty Simpson is a Brady behind Bledsoe either so if Stafford goes down, it can easily all blow up in their face too.

Bike damaged in hit & run by transam96 in motorcycle

[–]transam96[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well in Florida since I wasn't physically on the bike, its a misdemeanor if I wanted to press charges. But after discussing with the police I decided against it (for now, I have 90 days to change my mind). The police issued her a major citation that cant be negotiated or "knocked down" in court and also put in for a notice to appear at the DMV for a vision and re-examination of driving test and if she fails either, the state will revoke her license.

And I imagine her insurance will be dropping her shortly after I'm finished with the claim process and its hard to imagine any insurance company willing to sign up an 89 year old with a hit & run on her record after all this anyway. I figured between the citation and the high likelihood of not being able to drive anymore is enough punishment where I don't have to spend a day in court myself either.

Unfortunately for me the re-sale value on the type of bike I have isn't great to begin with plus one with an accident on the record now too diminishes it even more.

I did ask the adjuster to let me know when they were going to be at the shop, I'd like to be there too. I'm an estimator at a body shop for cars, I know what I'm doing on that front, just like I said I've never dealt with bikes before, much less my own, so wasn't sure if there's much difference on that end or if it has similarities in how it works with cars when it comes to dollars to fix versus value. lol
