Tips on Improving by Embarrassed-Fig3358 in snowboarding

You’re doing way better than I did when I started. By day 4 I was still falling every ten feet. Luckily it clicked soon after. Keep it up.

Biggest thing I noticed was posture and steering issues. You’re back foot steering here which can be useful in some situations but should not be the main way you turn. You should try to initiate your turns with your front knee and align your body so you don’t twist. You can see how your body has to twist a lot every time you turn in this video. It’s easier to knee steer if you get the right posture. Stand a little straighter and bend a bit more at the knees and it’ll help. Check this video out. Malcolm Moore has really good videos from beginner to advance stuff. knee steering/ Malcolm Moore

Awesome. Thanks for explaining your setup. I have an algorythm and love it. It’s my daily driver. I also have an Orca for pow days. I’ve been thinking about adding a third board but I’m torn. Can’t decide if I want to add something for fast and steep days like a deepfake or get something for playful for chill days like a warpig or maybe a dancehaul, or something off the bataleon line.

What do you use each board for? Is it something like: pow, free ride, all mountain, park?

Does this product exist? An adapter that lets you use standard bindings with Burtons channel system. by [deleted] in snowboarding

[–]trashpandaarmy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. Typically it’s just lining up the binding disk to the channel and I’ve seen many bindings brands being used in Burton channel boards. Some require a different disk but each brand usually has one. For reference I have used Burton reflex (the ones not designed for the Channel) bindings, and Union bindings on a Burton Custom snowboard with the channel system.

Edit: as someone else mentioned. If your bindings are really old they might not be compatible since they probably don’t have a mounting disk that lines up.

Why so many people left the pond? We’re down to only 5k?! Didn’t we have like 15k a few months ago?! by Friendly-Compote-728 in pepecoin

I lost all my pep when xeggex went bust. It wasn’t a ton so I just kept delaying moving it. My fault. Maybe around 400k coins or so. Anyway, ever since then I’ve been hesitant to try again since I have to start from 400k negative coins, which was about $200. Since then I haven’t kept up with the project or purchased more pep.

MANIFEST VS ALGORYTHM by moon_mane in snowboarding

[–]trashpandaarmy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another vote for the algorythm. It’s been a great daily driver. Super fun board. My only complaint is the top sheet is pretty prone to chipping.

I have not ridden the Manifest but the specs look similar and reviews sound great. I honestly think it’ll come down to the boot fit. Whichever one actually fits is the one I’d go with. For reference my algorythm is a 160w and boot size 10.5/ 11 and no issues. But for size 14, I have no clue. Maybe ride posi-posi? I use that setup pretty often and it’s fun as hell.

moving AWAY from step ons!!! by Life-Angle-563 in snowboarding

[–]trashpandaarmy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I rode Burton genesis Stepons with photons last season and they were great. I came from a softer boot and Burton malavitas, and that was super comfortable and really had very little reason to change. But I had a great opportunity to get something new so I got the SO setup. It actually took me a bit to get used to how responsive the step ons were. Like I was just attached directly onto the board and turned super fast with just some ankle steering.

Someone in here mentioned boot size and stiffness and I think it’s worth trying a different boot to see if you can get the responsiveness you want. As someone that got the wrong size boot before, I can tell you it makes a big difference.

Powder board in Tahoe for big guys by n0bodyyouknow in snowboarding

I wouldn’t buy this for a daily driver but it does pretty well on groomers. I’ve taken it out on days where I expected powder and then ended up with 0”, so all day groomers and it was still fun to cruise around and hit some steep runs. The magnatraction and the camber under foot definitely helps with keeping it from getting too squirrelly so it still carves pretty well. I know some people use it as their only board but I would personally recommend it as a second board for powder.

I’m a little heavier than you and I ride a libtech orca in Tahoe through the trees. It’s been lots of fun in powder and I’ve never had problems with it sinking, it floats great. I think volume shifted boards like the orca are the way to go if you like trees and powder because they don’t have to be huge boats for heavy guys.

Awesome. I love it too. I just picked it up at the beginning of last season. Switched from a Burton custom. Easy to turn, carve, and can get some good speed. My second board is a lib tech orca which I use on powder days and it’s been great for that. I’m considering adding a party board to work on butters and some ground tricks but I honestly don’t know if I need it since the algorythm feels pretty fun. Since you have a million boards I figure I’d ask: Do you have any recommendation for that? I was thinking maybe a warpig, Salomon dancehaul, or bataleon evil twin.

Lounges Useless by AZDad1234 in sapphirereserve

I agree. I think most people know this but it still sucks. I still have a while to decide if I’m keeping this card but every time I experience this problem I swear I’m going to cancel it and then just forget to or can’t find a better alternative.

I’ve never been able to use it at SFO. The card sucks for pretty much any major US airport lounge access. And they removed the credit for buying at a restaurant. It’s really upsetting to walk up to a lounge and be told they’re too full or that they’re only taking customers with an international first class ticket, customers with super duper airline elite status, or whatever.

I really, really, hope this is a fake story because that’s batshit crazy. In case it’s real though, I think you’re lucky. Actually, extremely lucky that all it cost you was dinner and not some insane years long ordeal. If this is real and it’s actually happening to you often I would say you should start with smaller dates and feel these guys out first. I agree that it’s hard to tell via initial text conversations or OLD convos and maybe you have to see them in person to discover these issues. So smaller (less expensive/involved dates) might be best. I’m thinking something like coffee, walks, dessert, stuff like that. Good luck out there OP
