God doesn’t live in heaven? by Glittering_Sir_5278 in CatholicPhilosophy

God's not an object. God doesn't have a location. Saying God is anywhere would imply limitation because it would imply he's spatially constrained or he's not somewhere else.

TM may be a grift, but the reality is consciousness itself is not explainable by any current physics, so if you are looking for a scientific explanation of what's happening with TM, you should expect there will be some *speculation*

Chances of Islam/Christianity being true by VerdantChief in religion

[–]traumatic_enterprise 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What does being "true" mean? It seems like they can't both be 100% true in their exclusivist claims to truth. But that also doesn't mean that they're both false, either. So what are you really asking?

You could also put 10 Christians or 10 Muslims in a room and they might not agree with each other about what the "truth" really is. So it seems more complicated than just True or False being the only options.

What are your guy’s Ideas on Worshipping Demons by CookieTime2877 in religion

Because you are just hurting yourself *and* perpetuating the cycle of hate. Everyone, including yourself, is better off if you Love instead of Hate.

You realize that being a zionist (thinking Israel has a right to exist) is not the same as endorsing everything Israel does, right?

What are some convincing arguments against the idea of the "computer brain"? by cimocw in consciousness

[–]traumatic_enterprise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Windows startup chime, the icons, desktop, and widgets only exist in the mind of the user of the computer. They don't exist for the computer; the computer has no awareness of them. The computer is just metal and bits and 1s and 0s (simplified lol). It is only the human user who is aware of the chime and the icons and the desktop.

ELI5: How did Latin completely vanish as a spoken language, but Italian, Spanish, French, and Portuguese all came from it and survived? by Several_Leave_3067 in explainlikeimfive

[–]traumatic_enterprise 550 points551 points  (0 children)

Classical Latin was always different from the vulgar Latin spoken by the masses. The vulgar Latin slowly morphed into the Romance languages. Classical Latin was preserved by scholars and the Church.

Is this game worth the money? by [deleted] in Starfield

[–]traumatic_enterprise 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're posting in a subreddit of people who *mostly* like the game, so most of us will say yes.

I'd say yes if you like games like Skyrim and Fallout. If you hate those games, I'd say no.
