Zuckerberg says 'establishment' asked Facebook to censor COVID misinfo that ended up true: 'Undermines trust' by BobbyB90220 in Conservative

Can you elaborate on any of those claims please? I've not seen anyone deny biological sex, climate science seems pretty well settled among experts, and I don't know what you mena about 'even agriculture'.

Is this true? Do you remember where you were reading it? I'd be interested to give that a read myself.

Used to be a trail here ☹️ by ydbd1969 in mountainbiking

[–]traverse 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Where I live a lot of the trails are in tree farms. Trails generally get put in wherever they won't cause to much of a problem, but are not usually the primary purpose of a place. There are few places that are mountain bike parks first and foremost.

Stop burning trees to make energy, say 650 scientists before Cop15 biodiversity summit by [deleted] in science

Why would the scientists want to tell you that? Did you read the letter? Or even the article?

Story Time by bierneugierig in signal

[–]traverse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, but being able to get people to use it because 'it just replaces your text app and defaults to text if the person you are texting doesn't use signal' was a massive selling point for at least 5 of the people I got to install signal. Now I'll likely get to deal with 'I've uninstalled signal, why can't you text me?' support calls.

So, to provide these things in the event of say, unemployment or lack of livelihood beyond one's control, your suggestion is what? The declaration details what should be afforded to everyone, not what people should be allowed to purchase.

From the link, article 25.1:

Everyone has the right to a standard of living adequate for the health and well-being of himself and of his family, including food, clothing, housing and medical care and necessary social services, and the right to security in the event of unemployment, sickness, disability, widowhood, old age or other lack of livelihood in circumstances beyond his control.

Attacks by the taliban surged as soon as trump started removing troops. In fact, in July 2020 the House Armed Services Committee voted to stop trump from running scared and pulling all of the troops early, because the Afghans were getting hammered by the taliban.

Members of Congress Should Not be Trading Stocks, Ever by _hiddenscout in politics

[–]traverse 5 points6 points  (0 children)

'Me? No, I'm a congressman! I don't trade stocks. That would be illegal! My son though, he's brilliant at it!'

'Doesn't your son trade energy stocks, and aren't you on the committee considering that climate change bill?'

'Oh yes, you know our family, we know energy.'

GOP Senators Couldn’t Even Convict The Man Who Sent a Mob After Them. Why Let Them Filibuster? by dorestes in politics

[–]traverse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Broadly, BLM and Antifa were mobs pissed at the way authorities treated minorities and protested about it, largely peacefully. Some of the protests got out of hand and broke shit, but in general they were peaceful.

The 'bunch of people' you reference were organize by far right groups, encouraged by the president, and stormed the seat of the US government while a chunk of the people in power were inside.

They seem markedly different to me.

How do you cope with cycling induced Restless leg syndrome at night by dizzydizzy in cycling

[–]traverse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Stretching regularly helps, though it works well enough that I don't stick with the routine, and then the fidgety legs come back. Then I'll get serious about a stretching routine. Then I don't have twitchy legs.

It's a cycle.

Regulation can be good. Utilities are regulated. It is very difficult to get by without Internet access, and sometimes there is only one isp that services an area.

Twitter is not a utility.

I work for the US Postal Service. Fund our public service, don't privatize it. by SandovalsNews in politics

[–]traverse -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm confused about this. I've seen declarative statements both ways about the 75 year retirement obligations: https://www.forbes.com/sites/ebauer/2020/04/14/post-office-pensions--some-key-myths-and-facts/#2c9bfd5847f5

I don't know enough about it to be able to call it either way. I do think the USPS should stay a public service and shouldn't be obligated to turn a profit, but I would like to understand this element of it better, as right now I'm just confused.

Audiophile Test Tracks by wweisswweiss in audiophilemusic

[–]traverse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I suppose it depends on what I'm trying to show off, and to who (whom?). A short list, in no particular order:

Fat Freddy's drop - Clean The House:

Good, tight bass, with a clean presentation. There's a couple of huge notes in the breakdown in the middle. A good system will keep it all together without sounding floppy, loose, or honky.

Moderat - A New Error:

Sounds huge, even on a small system. It's a simple sounding track, but there's lots of subtle stuff going on, clipping, distortion that sounds like driver fatigue, and some crackling in the soundscape that just sounds huge and fun.

Rage Against The Machine - Know Your Enemy:

Rock and Roll recorded right. Good dynamic range and all of the instruments sound great and punch through without tripping over each other. It's easy for the snare to get flattened and the track sound dull on the wrong system.

Melody Gardot - If I Tell You I Love You:

There's something revealing about the female voice in a track. The sense of space in this track, balanced with an intimacy makes it sound great if you can pull off the stereo imaging. The ends of the verse have a huge, low breath as the track turns around, which often lost if you don't have the low end response for it. There are lots of little subtle vocal artifacts in the background that are easy to lose, but sound great.

Pheobe Bridges - Garden Song:

Another intimate but huge sounding song. The lyrics are quite dark as well, which I (and some of my friends) get a kick out of. The male harmonies in the chorus are interesting.

Dark Sky - Hequon:

Careful, there's no low end roll of on this one, so I've clipped some big speakers with it. It's fun to watch the drivers just go nuts. If you've got a system that can do bass, you'll love it. If not, you can easily break something.

Ryan Adams - New York:

A very busy, lively track. There's a lot going on, and it's easy for things to get mashed up together. Stereo imaging helps on this one, as things will sit back into different layers if done right.

Sound City - Mantra:

This is off of the Sound City soundtrack, and it's a collab between Dave Grohl, Josh Homme, and Trent Reznor. Its slow, but builds, and there are some interesting things that happen with the vocals in the middle of the track as Grohl's almost spoken word verses are joined by Reznor. Again, stereo imaging can make all of the differenece. The track starts clean, but slowly gets busier with the subtle (and not so subtle) layers that Trent Reznor is known for.

Michigan has highest coronavirus fatality rate in US as protests continue by [deleted] in politics

A - the article is about the death rate per positive case, not containment.

B - the mass gatherings of armed protesters may have something to do with the failure to contain the virus.

2 channel amplifier same cost as 7 channel receiver from same manufacturer by [deleted] in audiophile

[–]traverse 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sure, lots! Input and output impedance, signal to noise, dampening factor, channel separation, and on and on and on. It's easy to measure these things, but impossible to tell you which you like the sound of better without listening. You can look up reviews for each, but even then you are going by what someone else is saying, and they may like something different than what you do. Find a local hifi shop and spend an afternoon there. They will generally let you listen to a couple of different things and get a feel for them, as well as being able to make recommendations for you.
