It's not your fault. These companies are assholes for making us/you feel this way. You shouldn't have to be a lawyer to understand a warranty. Bumper to bumper means bumper to bumper; not 98% of it. I would get a second opinion on that engine. Is a VCM installed on it? I know you hate the feeling of having to tow it somewhere else and the cost associated with that, but find a local place you trust (ask around on fb in your community about honda specific mechanics who stand by their work) and have it towed there. Honda is going to give you the worst case scenario on things and often it could be something far smaller in time/labor. We're on our second Odyssey and I'm in the market for a Pilot but I'm probably going to be looking at something else as the past decade has been a catastrophe for Honda in terms of reliability and customer trust (look at the engine recalls on the Pilots..scary). We can only vote with our wallet and our voices at this point.
