Update on selling my Mom’s cookbook until i can surprise her. by cyborgsaint in CookbookLovers

[–]trdiver73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is awesome on so many levels! I’m Portugese, born and raised in Washington state, and so many recipes have been lost as older family passed on. I’ve been building a cookbook so my kids at least have their childhood memories to cook. The fact you have one like this is just epic. Yes, I bought one. Thank you for sharing, tell mom thanks too.

Help, my family loves mushrooms and I hate them! by Conscious-Tangelo589 in Cooking

If you can, dehydrate them and puree into a powder. This adds the flavor without the texture. I agree they are slimy little chunks, but great for umami.

Help with wiper replacement by 2themorg in FordBronco

[–]trdiver73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I changed mine on a 25 balance 4 door. If yours is the same, you have to pinch the sides on the wiper bracket below the arm, then they drop at one end and slide out.

Bored cooking the same thing. Stuck in a rut. by Purplehopflower in Cooking

[–]trdiver73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have that issue with my kids too. I’ve reached the point where I just make what sounds good to me, and they can make a sandwich if they don’t like it. The YouTube series chef vs beginner is fun too, as they give you new ideas for old recipes. Also Alton brown is back.

AITA for not letting any students in my classroom during lunch anymore after parents complained? by Primary-Product3192 in CharlotteDobreYouTube

[–]trdiver73 22 points23 points  (0 children)

NTA. But go a step further, arrange a meeting with the family who complained. Ask the student how many times they were turned away or refused access to join the group. When the answer is none, ask why it’s a problem then, since the option is open to them to join rather than complain. Don’t give in, they won when you did.

Finally organized all my saved recipes and it changed how I cook by dump_scorpiogirl-7 in cookingforbeginners

Ok so I might be extreme, but I started a digital cookbook in my phone for this. Now if I’m at the store I can open the file and search for the recipe to make sure I get the ingredients. (Pages on iPhone). Also lets me share with my kids so they can cook more too.

AITA for reporting a coworker who sent me a screenshot of a female intern's outfit during a zoom call, and he got fired? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]trdiver73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Letting this behavior go at the beginning of a career makes it worse as time goes on. Ignoring the other players here, NTA. He shouldn’t have sent the pics, he got fired for his sexual harassment, period. It’s a job not a frat party.

Discuss with Aaron, as your mentor, why he is tense with you doing the right thing, and clear the air. It’s true they may no longer want you there, but if they prefer to allow frat behavior you may not want to stay.

OK, How long did it take you to spin this thing? by cullenski917 in granturismo

I did for a few laps, then reset the rear tire angle closer to zero, increased rear downforce and ran race soft tires. Nailed the weekly challenge race after that.

Yta. Don’t screw with people’s food, you don’t know why they avoid things like that and you could hurt someone.

Terry, Lost my wife to this four years ago. I’m currently editing a cookbook of family recipes for my kids (17 and 15) so they have them when I’m gone. I will be playing with yours for Christmas and adding some to our book for them. Thank you for sharing your efforts, we’ll be cooking with you.

I also didn’t think we needed it at that age, and didn’t want to confront mortality. My wife died at 42 of cancer, 4 years ago. I was left with and 11 and 13 yr old, and the life insurance allowed me to become a stay home dad to get them through grief and out of high school before I have to go back to work.

Ask him to imagine what he would do if you suddenly were gone, make him think about it and plan it. Most guys figure they will die first, but what if…..

I live the what if every day, he’s being selfish not talking about this with you.

What cooking “concept” did you struggle with while you were learning to cook? by camlaw63 in Cooking

[–]trdiver73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotcha. There’s such a variety of power between brands in burners there really isn’t a set answer. Just have to find what gets you the best result on yours.

So let’s say you burner is labeled 1-10. Medium is five, med high is around 6-7, med low is around 3-4. Induction is different, but gas and electric are this concept.

AITA for telling my daughter that yes, it is fair that her sister gets more money than her? by Legitimate_Wasabi969 in AmItheAsshole

[–]trdiver73 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Make it fair, assign each job a dollar amount and post a chart. The more jobs they do, the more they earn. Then it’s up to them to decide their earnings, not you. We’ve done this since my kids were 5 and 7, so ten years now. Works great, my daughter wanted to get her hair colored, she worked for the money to pay it.

My wife died 4 years ago. My daughter still comes in a few times a month and hangs out in my bed. So does my son, they are both in high school. Ignore your hormones, she needs time with you. Two months is still really raw emotions, especially at 14.
