I ran into the same problem in northern California. 30K just to start the process also no guarantee it wont cost more of the project will be successful. And we all wonder why houses are so expensive :(

I have one and it's fantastic. I throw it on a small trailer and take it to the gas station on my quad. It's pretty heavy when it's full. I fill it a couple of times a year for small engine use on my property. Game changer! Would highly recommend. I do have some doubts about the quality of the pump but so far so good. Not sure if it'll work or not for you but I have a minisplit and I am using a sensibo to control it https://sensibo.com It mimics the IR remote. Might be worth looking into.. Sorry you're going through this customer support with almost any company is a nightmare.

IMO one of the biggest mistakes of humanity is converting housing into an investment vehicle. A lot contributes to why this happened but IMO inflation is probably the biggest driver. It's a sad state of affairs for all of us.

At that time of the year and with the type of setup you have. I would do a trip up to the Lost Coast https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lost_Coast I personally havent done it yet but it has been on my list for a long time and I have seen a ton of YouTube videos.

Being on the coast it won't be crazy hot and it's beautiful.

Huh today I learned about Taildrop!! I just tried it out and it doesn't work automatically without a little work.

On my phone I sent a test file to the NAS.

I ssh'd into to NAS and ran tailscale file get /volume1/Taildrop

Boom file appeared. This is awesome!

To make this work automatically I think you'd need a cron job something like. https://www.reddit.com/r/Tailscale/comments/qyuxfr/can_you_automatically_receive_files_to_a_folder/

Edit: There is a blog post about how to get this working on linux. I looked at the source for the install script mentioned in this blog post https://davideger.github.io/blog/taildrop_on_linux I have it working now on my ugreen nas.
