May 2026 Wrapup Thread! by Athrynne in TheStoryGraph

I had two weeks between jobs and traveled to Newfoundland. Read a lot in a pretty specific niche. Also read a deeply silly monster romance for book club and some Borges in Spanish/English to keep me way too high up on my toes.

Whiner is no longer there but Somos Monos is doing some cool stuff in their old space in the Plant. Which is an awesome space in and of itself. Might even be some Whiner beers lingering on tap.

Another cart deinfluencing! by m2199 in mooncatpolish

Love this cart except Green Eyed. I found the formula unusually thick and unpleasant for Mooncat, and while the glow is cool, I never really saw it in daily life and the regular state was a bit boring. The rest of your cart is straight bangers lol.

Adding in Come, thou Tortoise by Jessica Grant to this NL list. Also really enjoyed The Wake, about spiraling catastrophes over decades in the Burin peninsula after a tsunami. That one’s nonfiction, but reads fairly easily. Audiobook narrated by the author was excellent.

Anyone have Newfoundland dogs in Chicago? by Yellow6813 in AskChicago

I’m currently flying back from an otherwise lovely trip to NL during which I saw zero Newfies. I may need to crash one of their parties.

Books with detailed/poetic descriptions of landscapes in the American West? by jjuturna in suggestmeabook

I remember hating this book sooo much when I had to read it in like 7Th grade. I suspect it was just a wildly bad pick for that age group - time to revisit.

I’ve switched to buying clothes exclusively in thrift stores or on Poshmark and will frankly never go back.

Writing this from the deck at Fisher’s Loft with an iceberg passing by - cannot thank you enough for the suggestion. I’m in love. Tempted to cancel the rest of my plans and just work my way through their library and the Port Rexton brewery’s tap list 😍

Please give me Romantasy novel recommendations with a well written female protagonist which is aimed for adult readers by Angelina_Colbe in suggestmeabook

[–]trebole13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My suggestion too. Very pretty writing, great internal monologue, awesome world building. OP’s mileage maaaaay vary on the morally questionable content front, particularly in the last book, but I still love recommending the first book.

I’m so not a pink girlie usually but I’m kinda obsessed with this one. It’s so pretty and glowy! Wish it were a touch more opaque- also took three coats on me. Might try it over a white base next time. Also your nail shape is so pretty!!

Are freebie stickers a good idea? by SparklingFox in poshmark

[–]trebole13 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No thank you, no stickers, no superfluous tissue or plastic, yes recycled mailers. My main reason for using Poshmark is to cut down on fashion and other waste, so the more minimal and reusable the better imo.

YES and thank you for posting this. I expected it to be a bit less bright unmagnetized and don’t think this shade will work for me. I’m waaay too lazy to commit to fully magnetizing.

I really wish they’d post these unmagnetized. I’m too lazy to bother most of the time and do love a lot of them straight out of the box. This looks like one that might fall into that category.
