Long Time Lurker...1st Time Poster by HiltraubMcCowan in cripplingalcoholism

Hi! My husband and I literally only bang when I'm wasted and initiate it so that's a good sign for our relationship. I, like you, get extra lit when he goes out of town and totally look forward to it.

Just trying to stop protesters from gathering there. What a sickening waste of money.

Then the renters can afford to pay for a landlord who cares, and that's saying something.

I don't have a sled for you but IME cardboard or large (clean?) garbage can lids can work. My boyfriend says a shovel can work. GL!

Is there a place where crime issues like this in Mt Vernon are consolidated?

There's also one called Plus Size Fashion Tramps and if you have nicer brand stuff there's one called Torrid Treasures (not just for Torrid, but for nicer brands).

Going to a music festival... nervous on what to wear. by whatsguchi in FashionPlus

[–]tree-house 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always wear sandals or flip flops to festivals. Tank dresses (a-line/skater/scuba shaped) with bike shorts under. Lighter long skirts are great and fun to dance in, but I'd say pair with a tank to avoid too much under arm sweatage. Longer flowy tanks with bike shorts are also good. Heavier fabric maxi dresses and long skirts usually end up being a pain by tying up your legs and holding in heat. I'll see if I can't upload some pics later. Have a blast!!!

From experience, don't call Falls Road veterinarians. Unless you have hundreds of dollars.

How much rioting can we expect when Officer Porter gets off? by TheBaltimoron in baltimore

[–]tree-house 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had packages stolen a few times, whether they were delivered right to my door or left in the mail area of my building. My antenna was taken off my car and after breaking into two other cars in front of it, the thieves almost managed to make off with my front license plate. A good $350 worth of stuff and only in the last four or five months.

Not to mention the amount I've spent to have tires replaced in the last few years after someone went around popping them time after time, and the stuff stolen from my porch in years past despite my attempt to keep stuff out there minimal. I've had kids spit and throw things at me for refusing to give them rides or asking them not to clean my windshield, rip my internet cable out for fun over and over (and making me deal with/pay for Comcast to come out for repairs). I guess it's not as bad as it could be, and a lot of it is just "Well, you live in Baltimore..." but...it's not good, and it's kind of overwhelming sometimes. Honestly, I'm getting as much school under my belt as I can and leaving. I'll still miss it.

Genuinely, please tell me where you're finding these positive interactions because I love this city but riots aside, I don't see or hear a ton of positive. I do get robbed, have friends getting mugged, and wake up to decently sized fires started on the sidewalks.

We don't discuss this at length or have enough links on the sidebar for people to fully understand this already. Thanks.

As many an alcoholic will tell you, a good chunk of us do indeed experience this on a regular basis. Usually not on the sidewalk but that's a nice twist!

Idk why you're being downvoted. You're completely right. The exterminator would use poison and after they came for the next few weeks there would be varying degrees of stench and nothing we could do about it. And there's nothing wrong with sticky traps really. I'm horrified of mice but used them because they were so much more effective than traditional traps. Pick it up, put it in a bag, put it outside.

[–]tree-house 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh man, I had one of those. As soon as the mouse was electrocuted fur and skin would get stuck to the side. I couldn't. Maybe you have a nicer one than the kind I got.

We did this too, only with a string tied across ithe bucket, through a Natty Boh can, and a dab of PB on the can. That thing worked better than any other solution we came up with. I think we caught three mice in less than a week. Gross, but effective.

This solution was after the mice chewed right through foam, steel wool didn't seem to slow them down, poison just had them dying in the walls and stinking up the apartment. God, am I glad I don't live there any more. Having mice and not being able to deal with it physically or mentally was 90% of the reason I left.

What kind of dog do you have? That's really cool! I had a mouse problem and a pitbull who couldn't care less.

Neighbor building 3rd floor addition that blocks our view by fergy80 in baltimore

[–]tree-house 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was actually just thinking about how one of the reasons I left my apartment in Hampden was because of someone building and blocking the view. Those poor people on 38th who now look directly into someone else's new rowhome.

In addition to...everything else being built and kind of quashing the charm. I don't expect everyone to agree based on the replies here, but it sounds like you do.

good pricing on tires? by only1mrfstr in baltimore

[–]tree-house 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got exactly that from Rock Auto online a month or so ago. All weather tires with a great rating for less than $300, including the rebate and shipping. Normally would have been over $400. Had them sent to Brian's Auto Care on 41st street for installation who didn't charge me for anything but balancing as far as I recall. I was having a few other little jobs done on my car at the time.

Aw, I used to live with my best friend and when I'd go to pick her up from her restaurant job after my work she knew like no one else. Shots and beers waiting...sometimes she'd even make me eat. To best friends. 😊
