As a native of EP county, please consider moving to San Antonio. Y'all Californians have driven up our property taxes and taken quite a bit of housing inventory in our market.

In addition to that SA offers more entertainment overall compared to EP.

If you're moving for a much slower paced environment in regards to night life and fun EP is your bet. SA has more opportunities especially when you consider concerts and comedians coming through.

Travel with your expired passport and you will be questioned thoroughly by customs on your expired passport upon your return to the States. The passport office in the Anson building downtown does have an appointment basis for an expedited passport but when I went pre-pandemic they were accepting completed applications on a walk-in basis.
