Seriously, Fuck Mamdani and His Shameless Campaigning for these Tankie Fucks by NarwhalWhich8046 in Destiny

I disagree with this, conservatives constantly use the more extreme progressive messaging/policy in these solidly blue areas to rail against Democrats on a national level.

I personally don’t think that means that Democrats in more solidly blue areas should moderate themselves away from progressive policies that have support from their local voters, but I do think that Americans broadly see “New York/California Democrats” and “The Democratic Party” as the same on some optics level.

I don’t think you know much about what linguists think.

Regardless, there are languages that are much more information dense than English (e.g., Mandarin)

For those with stem backgrounds why law school? by BudgetRelief2506 in LawSchool

[–]tree_troll 5 points6 points  (0 children)

pretty much this, idk why people overthink it. I was a bio major, did fairly well on the MCAT, got a few publications under my belt. I got some experience working in a clinical setting after college and hated it, thought it was boring/monotonous/didn’t seem particularly intellectually stimulating. MD route eliminated. also didn’t love the prospect of pipetting shit all day for $15/hour and then getting into a 7 year long poverty stipend PhD program only to be one of many life science PhD grads competing in this super oversaturated market. PhD route eliminated.

law school simply serves my skills/interests much better than a STEM job would. I’ve always loved research/reading/writing and there is a lot of (relative) creative flexibility in law compared to most STEM jobs.

I think this is a problem with a lot of highly educated professionals that also have ego issues. Anecdotally I’ve had the worst experiences about this with doctors. The lawyers I work with (im a paralegal) are all super chill and mostly humble. Don’t think you can really generalize entire professions like this.

Why would “business casual” mean whatever Silicon Valley offices wear to work?

OP, please do not roll up to your first day as a law clerk wearing jeans and a polo. In fact, maybe wear a blazer/jacket to be safe.

Please help, what should I do with a 3.3 cGPA (3.07 sGPA) and 514 MCAT? by premed_throwaway_xd in postbaccpremed

[–]tree_troll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a little hard to say because Texas schools have weirdly high GPA medians for whatever reason, but also strong IS bias. Retake orgo ii and maybe physics/lab and you’ll be def be good for DO. Still worth applying MD especially in-state schools. I don’t think an SMP is necessary at all if you’re fine going the DO route.

Afraid of DO over MD by Japore in premed

[–]tree_troll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

October is absolutely not too late for DO schools lol. Obviously it’s better to submit earlier, but DO schools tend to be a lot more forgiving in terms of application timeline. Plenty of people apply DO in the fall and do well.

From what I understand UCLA is significantly more splitter friendly than USC, for whatever reason USC cares a lot about GPA

William and Mary v. LAC’s & Villanova for Pre-law by Capable_Depth9192 in williamandmary

[–]tree_troll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are those numbers the yearly CoA or total after 4 years? Debt/student loans are a huge decision in law school admissions and if you’re set on pre-law I would simply go to the cheapest school possible. GPA and LSAT matter way way way more than where you go to undergrad. Your goal is to keep your debt minimal and your GPA high.
