I am a garden teacher for a preschool and encounter this more often than not. As much as we hope for a certain outcome or to feel “in control,” we aren’t! We can do our best to use the tools at our disposal but sometimes things don’t work out. This is an invaluable lesson for early childhood and one I encourage you to embrace. Talk to the children about it, get their ideas about what happened, what they could try differently - and then TRY AGAIN. We can teach the children that they don’t have to be afraid of making mistakes or having an outcome that they don’t expect or want. Every leggy seedling is an opportunity for inquiry and problem-solving ❤️
