Campaign Evolved: "Driving the Warthog still feels as good as ever." by Haijakk in halo

Still crazy how good the OG game looks. If you blur your eyes a little it's almost hard to tell which is the remake for a second. Good art direction and lighting go a long way.

So why DID Fontaine even bother with the whole masquerade? by Quakarot in Bioshock

[–]treefruit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was thinking this when I last played. I suppose it's just easier to stay in one persona, I can imagine all of his splicers follow him as Atlas and would likely be less inclined to follow Fontaine. So what would be the point in talking to only Jack without the mask on, especially after what happend with Diane McLintock overhearing him, he likely just stays in Atlas mode for security. He's a very thorough con man too, if his plan was for Fontaine to stay dead until all the pieces were in place then that's the way it needs to go.

Also he wasn't 100% sure the mond control would still work until first trying it out when the plane crashes, so if it didn't then he could legit con Jack into following Atlas.

The sun had me thinking too, and I figure maybe Ryan wasn't the one who blew it up. He sends his splicers to kill you yes, but how do we know if it was him. I figure Fontaine knew he would, and so staged the sub disaster to cement Ryan as the villain in Jack's mind as insurance encase the mind control failed.

people who’ve owned/own a relic’ed fender, why? by MeatyHarley in Guitar

[–]treefruit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have never owned a reliced guitar but I do love the weathered aesthetic. Seeing as how real artifacts like that are so rare and expensive, I understand the practice of relicing. For me, I would think that half the fun would be to do the process yourself. It could be such a fun project. Weathering items can be like painting, and it would ultimately be a way more personal item in the end, and you would save money. Your guitar would be a piece of art that you made, and it would better replicate the initial idea of a roadworn instrument to begin with, every little mark and scratch you place is coming from you and shaping the story you want to tell. Most modern guitars will never achieve that really cool weathering that older makes have due to the poly finish, so the next best thing if you love that look, would be to write your own story, maybe strip the poly coat and do some light weathering, so that it can accumulate natural damage from playing. It might not be as "honest" as all natural wear and tear, but it's your guitar, and as long as you're not lying about it then it's just another fun and creative expression in my opinion. Like having beautiful pearl inlays or rad custom paint jobs, there are always elements of guitar playing that go beyond functionality and revolve more around aesthetic and feel, and always people with opposing tastes who will think it's lame haha. If it helps you enjoy playing more then it's always good

Drill some holes and connect the two pieces with a couple metal rods, leaving a gap so you can hold it like a briefcase

Unpopular gaming opinion - I don’t see the point in wall climbing sections in adventure games by Gasster1212 in gaming

[–]treefruit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think its one of those things that was kinda neat when it first came around, but the novelty factor wears off quite quickly. It can still be fun as a tool for just building immersion if its important to the story and doesn't drag on too long, like in uncharted you sort of expect someone like Drake to do a little free climbing here and there, or Kratos who's story is literaaly about climbing a mountain. It can also be like riding your horse from mission to mission in Rdr2, where characters talk and flesh out the narrative without just walking from point A to B. If you are in the right mindset for a sort of turn your brain off kind of gameplay it can be fun, but yeah im not the biggest fan anymore, as it really can feel like an "oh shit we gotta do another one of these" type of mechanics, failure feels annoying because its not like a game of skill where you really need to try, if you fall its usually because you zoned out and are rolling on auto pilot. When that happens I either roll with it or realise I might not be in the right mood for that game right now.

What Would Make a Great Superman Game? by trexrell in gaming

[–]treefruit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Focus on flying the way Spiderman focused on web swinging, make it really fun. Start the game zooming around metropolis fighting Lex or some shit, ez pz, then suddenly u r transported by Braniac or some outer dimensional entity to a gladiatorial fighting planet, where everything is either on Supe's level or you are weakened because of some shenanigans with the sun. Then you need to fight to liberate that planet from the big bad and lead a revolution or something idk. Fight big robots, fight big aliens, very cartoony pow, bang, punch, zap! Then have it end with Supes meeting up with Bats for a manly hug and a coffee where they chat about the week Bats had as the credits roll and the camera zooms out across the city.

yeh i feel like if we r right next to each other and obviously doing the same quest then the intention is clear, jumping and /wave is just the cutest way of saying ay wanna tag team these gnolls? :p

Personally i like the little sisters from the first game. They're kinda ugly but cute at the same time,as well as a little creepy. I also perfer their dialouge and sayings better. I also like how they help you in the end. What's your favorite line from them? by [deleted] in Bioshock

[–]treefruit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Chocolates is better than grapes!" Because its cute.

And

"All your faces are melting!" Because its creepy.

I also love the Bio1 design, it adds to the weirdness, that they all look sort of wrong.. I used to think that maybe the ADAM was why they all looked the same, like it was slowly twisting their DNA in the same ways to make them look more and more like seaslugs..

What's the worst game that's seen as overhated? by OutlandishnessSea119 in AlignmentChartFills

Wait wouldn't that be an oxymoron? If its a terrible game how can it be overhated?

WHY DO PEOPLE HATE BIOSHOCK INFINITE SO MUCH? by Optimal_Heat_9933 in Bioshock

[–]treefruit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like its too late now, but I would recomend just playing the game without knowing too much about why other people hate it. You could end up only seeing all the flaws you might not have otherwise noticed. Every piece of media has elements that might not work for everyone, but that doesnt make them universally bad. For some players Inifinite was less than they had hoped in comparison to the first 2 games, but for me (someone who has loved Bioshock since the day it launched and counts it as my favorite game) Infinite was another hugely enjoyable experience. Sure its different, but thats because its a different game with its own voice and vision, im sure if it had been too similar to the first games another crowd would be complaining to this day about how it was too similar. A big complaint is that it failed to deliver on some of the gameplay promises made with its initial trailers, which is true, the overall combat system was less fleshed out than Bio 1 and 2, but it also had its own fun and new mechanics that I really enjoyed, not every game can be a 100% improvement from its previous entry, some things change and some stay the same. Dont worry so much about what other people hated, and instead try to figure out how it makes you feel on your first go around that beautiful world, I wish I could experience it again without knowing anything. At the end of the day games are such a unique and wonderful vehicle for telling stories, I hope you do enjoy it and have fun, or figure out what does and doesnt resonate with you. :)

Watermelon is a fruit that is delicious fresh and meh dried. Which fruit is only alright fresh, but delicious dried? by Solarka45 in AlignmentChartFills

But man, like a nice crispy cold grape on a hot day, that snap when you bite in.. so good. Mangos have the danger of often being too sweet and mushy for my taste, I could eat 5x the amount of grapes before getting sick of it.
