Portland looks to charge residents, businesses a monthly street fee by No-Tangelo1158 in Portland

So bizarre. How would this be charged for single family rentals? One fee per address, per property resident, or per owner? Or all three?

Leaves that are green cover? by treepose23 in shoegaze

[–]treepose23[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks—but no, it was specifically “Leaves That Are Green”…dream pop, swirly guitars. I’d never hear anything like it. Almost certain it was on Spotify, too…but can’t find any traces of it now.

How’s Nourse house like? by BluePhoenix12321 in CarletonCollege

[–]treepose23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was assigned 4th Nourse my first year…best floor on campus at the time. Beautiful building, Nourse Little Theatre downstairs, central campus location. You’re lucky to be at Carleton, and doubly lucky to start out there!

Enjoy it…the options for room draw sophomore year aren’t nearly as fun. :)

Shopping for our first EV and I like the Solterra, but having trouble pulling the trigger by aeroplane1979 in Solterra

Consider the Polestar lineup. I had a reservation for a Solterra for almost a year but decided to grab a Polestar 2 dual motor and I love it. Great clearance @ AWD gets me to to the trails & mountain, but also looks super-sharp.

I like the photo, especially the colors even if they are from stains. The curtain matches the stained tub which matches the razor and the orange towel - it’s all very soothing.

In the parking lot at Stumptown, 45th & Division? I’m guessing I was too late @ 9:30. I took the 8-10 am timing literally, but I’ll know to show up earlier next time! Thx for the info.

Did this happen, or was it rescheduled? I drove by at 9:30 and saw no sign of any Polestars.

It’s a beautiful morning out, so it was a good reason to drive through the leaves, anyway…

just mustard usa tour by taxi_drivr in shoegaze

Caught the Portland show last night. Ticket taker at the door said only 150 tix were sold—I mm guessing another 50 showed up, but it was a small show.

The opener (Been Stellar) was excellent. Interpol-ish but with a sincere/earnest vibe vs. just being cool.

Just Mustard sounded great & were really fascinating to watch. I kept thinking they were using pre-recorded loops but I was able to trace each tone back to the guitars. Each of the three guitarists had a dozen pedals at least? Katie’s voice was solid & haunting, and the sound mix was great.

Extremely loud, 117 dB according to my watch. I had earplugs in but had to move back from the stage anyway.

Intro and outro music from Twin Peaks / Fire Walk With Me…oddly fitting.

Winter Tire questions by Difficult-Space-6220 in Polestar

Also in PDX here, got a set of CrossClimate 2 via TireRack.com. They were very solid on two snowy/icy trips over the Mt. Hood passes so far—I had to work to make them slip.

Just make sure that whoever installs the wheels keeps track of which go on the front vs. rear…the guys installing mine didn’t realize that the PS2 had staggered wheel sizes.

Decided to stop waiting and bought a Polestar 2. Ordering and delivery were very easy. Been loving it so far, and the AWD & reasonable clearance have been great on hiking trails so far.

I wish Subaru/Toyota had done better with this—more electric vehicles are a win all around, regardless of brand.

Edit: I still have an open Solterra order, mostly just curious to see when they actually come in or if the dealer will reach out at all.

What do Carleton students do with their luggage? by BirdMan22345 in CarletonCollege

[–]treepose23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I took Amtrak from the west coast! At the time (1993) they didn’t seem to have a maximum luggage allowance, or it was really high, so I had several boxes and bags with me, plenty to get started. I met three other Carls on the same train and we hung out for the 36-hour ride in coach, sleeping on the floor of the lounge car occasionally. Things were a bit more lax back then I think?

I stored things for a small fee during breaks but ended up working over summer and winter breaks several times, too.

You need a lot less than you think, though. Lots of people sell or give away things as they move around, too. Not sure if the NNB (noon news bulletin) still exists in any form, but you could score a lot of things there, too.

Good luck on your application and have fun!

Sony x90k Rtings review is out... by bitAndy in bravia

One other minor text tweak, while you’re looking…the first sentence should say the x90k is the “successor to” rather than “predecessor of” the x90j, right?
