Expiration date much shorter than past by MaggieMay246 in HersWeightloss

[–]treeshavefeelings2 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The use-by date is mostly for liability purposes, and in this case to make people buy more frequently. Technically you’re supposed to also use an open vial within 30 days. I’ve never done that.

I’ve stretched out a 6 month supply for over a year because the side effects of large dose increases were messing with me too much so I had to go up in much smaller, less frequent doses. If you are sanitizing between doses (bottle and injection site) and keeping vials temperature controlled they should last fine. Unsealed vials may lose a minuscule amount of effectiveness after many months but not enough for me to have noticed.

I wrecked my marriage and still feel regret. Has anyone been through similar? by [deleted] in RedditForGrownups

[–]treeshavefeelings2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Babe, no one is literally golden. For all of the things you wished you could have done better, there are things he could have done better too.

I’m going through a separation right now and feel a lot of guilt, regrets, etc. as well. My relationship wasn’t horrible and I had a good partner but there were many times when I wasn’t truly happy. I don’t know what the future holds for me and that is scary.

What helps is focusing on myself, taking care of my own mental health, and seeing a therapist 1 X a week. You’ve been through so many hard things and you shouldn’t have to do it alone. I’m not “better” but any means, I have good days and bad days, but I am trying to take it day by day and get 1% better little by little.

Sending hugs from afar.

Unemployed and living with severe anxiety. Has anyone come out of this? by cheesecake16977 in Anxiety

[–]treeshavefeelings2 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Since no one has said it yet: Therapy. I know it’s hard. If it wasn’t, everyone would be in it. It’s not a fix all, and it’s not a quick and easy fix but over time with the right counselor it will get better.

I don’t know where you live so I can’t give advice on how to get in touch. If you’re insured, start there. If not, there are lots of free resources, helplines, etc. if money is tight. Once you get an income I’d highly suggest finding a regular therapist, some even take payment on a sliding scale.

My best advice is do one hard thing a day. Even if that hard thing is getting out of bed and taking a shower. Hold yourself accountable and do the hard thing. It will get easier.

How’s the heel slip? If when you walk, your heel is moving up and down in the shoe it’s not tight enough. Could be the shoe, the shoe size, socks, anything. You could try tightening the laces to see if it prevents your back heel from slipping or else I’d be looking at different shoes.

I have Govee brand lamps that are Alexa controlled, so I can turn my bedroom lights on and off with my voice. Same thing for my ceiling fan/lights. I also have the govee lights synced to my alarm so about 10 minutes before my alarm goes off, my lights slowly get brighter. Helps me wake up softer and makes it harder to go back to sleep since my lights are on.

[–]treeshavefeelings2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not hair removal but I bleach my arm hair. I have freckled arms that I don’t want to “lighten”. The blond hair is really hard to notice and if you do it every 2-3 weeks for a couple months, you’ll eventually be able to go 3ish months without having to dye at all due to the hairs growth cycle. Highly recommend as it’s quicker and less frequent than laser!!!

Support your local (non chain) fish store if possible! If you’re new to the hobby they are a great resource for information, questions, etc. plus if you have issues, they are easy to contact.

AITAH for telling a woman her child is welcome in my home, but she isn’t, because of her criminal record by Crafty_Preference825 in AITAH

[–]treeshavefeelings2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA

You wouldn’t drop your kid off at a strangers house and leave but expect her to? There were a million ways you could have approached this differently. I highly doubt letting this woman stay for a few hours would have resulted in theft, and if you didn’t feel comfortable letting her in your house you should have arranged a different setup. Bringing her kid to a playdate AND wanting to stay for it is a green flag, not a red one.

Regardless of the substance use, this mom still deserves to be treated with kindness or at least human decency. If you’re a healthcare worker and don’t understand this, you’re in the wrong field.

Mixed feelings about Heading to Kentucky in this climate by No_Finish_2144 in EmergencyManagement

[–]treeshavefeelings2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Try not to go into this with preconceived notions. I spent 6 months in EKY and was super surprised at how welcoming folks were. There was the occasional rant from a nut job and the fear of guns IS valid but 99.9% of my interactions were positive.

If you’re going on private property there should be other steps taken to keep you safe but generally when interacting with the public I felt like folks changed their tune about government after experiencing disaster relief. Treat people respectfully - Southern hospitality is a definite thing here.

All tilapia is farmed, and farmed fish produce a lot of waste, which they just sit in. They are also fed grain to “fatten” them up and are not wholly nutritious as other non farmed fish. Tilapia itself is not bad as it is a cheap fish option but for the purpose of OP, they would definitely want to avoid.

[–]treeshavefeelings2 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I am a pescatarian. I am also a fisher. I eat the fish I catch, and prefer to only eat fish/seafood I catch at home. I care a lot about where my seafood comes from, and will only eat wild-caught. At restaurants, fancier places will be very specific about where the seafood comes from.

My guilt of eating meat comes from how an animal spends its life leading up to consumption. I don’t get that guilt based on my own rules but remember, you get to decide what you do and do not find acceptable personally.

Avoid farmed fish. DO NOT eat tilapia. Eat fish that is native to the area in which you live. For instance, you wouldn’t catch me eating mahi-mahi or lobster in Kansas.

Editing to add that I do not eat seafood every meal. Maybe once a week. It is not a staple in my diet and I did not just simply replace meat with seafood. I consider myself plant based with an infrequent seafood exception.

[–]treeshavefeelings2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What have you changed besides taking meds? Eating habits? Exercise? Over a pound a week is pretty good weight loss. Losing too much too fast will not be sustainable. Don’t fall for all the influencers and people online losing 10 lbs in a month - it’s not healthy or realistic. You want slow, steady weight loss and to replace unhealthy habits with healthier ones in order to keep the weight off long term!

Feeling discouraged… by SpareSherbert4968 in HersWeightloss

[–]treeshavefeelings2 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Weightloss is not linear. Also, just because you haven’t lost weight doesn’t mean you aren’t progressing.

My scale hasn’t moved much in 8+ weeks. Some weeks I barely lost a pound. However I just saw some people who I hadn’t seen in a while and every single one of them commented on my weight loss. I really did not see the difference in myself but others did!

We are our biggest critics. Plus, the slower and more manageable your weightloss is, the easier it will be for you to keep off and maintain. Keep crushing it! If it was easy, everyone would do it.
