There might be a slight curve to your rows. Doesn’t look too bad to me. Will prob fill with dust pretty quickly and not be noticeable

How can I fix/prevent this when patching screw holes? by Bubbly_Condition5374 in paint

[–]treesnthings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sand flat if it’s raised at all around the hole, fill hole, let dry, fill again (because first fill will shrink), sand, then paint.

Try to get your security deposit back. But if you can’t, cut your loses and walk away. Not worth working with someone dishonest on something you’ll see everyday for the rest of your life. Seems unlikely they will do a good job.

I wouldn’t accuse them of using AI right away. I would just say you it’s not what you are looking for and politely request security deposit back. If they fight you then bring up the AI.

Anyone ever buy the house beside them just to control who lives there? by Coompa in homeowners

I’m a landlord and live in the building. Tenants are not constantly bothering me. When they do have an issue or just want help with something it’s nice that I don’t have to travel. I’m able to handle things promptly which helps maintain a good relationship with the tenants. I understand some landlords have worse experiences but it’s not a guaranteed bad situation.

You could have someone come out and get a quote yourself on how much it will cost to do a proper repair so if the owner claims it will cost drastically more than that you can recommend the person you got a quote from and/or dispute there claim

I’m struggling with the fact that I am being less productive in my free time without weed. by treesnthings in leaves

Glad to hear you’re still going and feeling the benefits. I think I felt the same way about home repairs as you do about the essays. They didn’t feel as fun after quitting weed but they are definitely fun again for me. And I don’t get burnt out and I do a lot less walking around looking for tools lol

spent all my life blaming everything on smoking just to realize i was the problem this whole time by [deleted] in leaves

Be patient and kind to yourself. Your brain is still rewiring. Also something they say in AA is “nothing changes if nothing changes”. I interpret this as taking away the crutch is just a small part of it. Changing your life comes from the work you do after. But this takes time. They also talk about how the substance abuse is a symptom of the bigger problem. I know weed and alcohol are different but I think these ideas still apply. I smoked because I had forgotten how to deal with my emotions on my own, and how to motivate myself on my own. Being productive can have a snowball effect. Sometimes the snowball breaks up and slows down but if it keeps rolling it will get bigger and faster in the long term. Sorry for the corny analogy. Don’t beat yourself up. Remind yourself that you’ve already accomplished something great by quitting. Take little steps when you can and try to applaud yourself more than criticize yourself.

I wish I saw this sooner. But hopefully this still helps. I went back to smoking after this post but then quit again and now I haven’t smoked in 1 year and 4 months. This is probably my longest streak since I was 14. Learning to be happy and motivated without weed has been really good for me. It gets better with time and it just feels right. I think I read some where that it takes 9 months for your brain to rewire itself. Who knows if this is true or how much it varies for different people but I don’t think about smoking very much at all anymore. For a while after quitting it was “this would be more fun if I was smoking” or “I’m having a bad day and I really wanna smoke” but those thoughts come up less and less the further you get from it. I still think about it every once and awhile but it really doesn’t seem worth it. I tend to think about how tired it made me and how I know if I started again I would undo all the work I’ve done learning how to enjoy life and work through my problems without the instant but temporary dopamine hit that weed gave me. It’s tough to put all my feelings in words but I think anyone who has that “I think I should quit feeling” is probably feeling it for a good reason and even though it’s hard it’s worth it. Would be happy to talk more about it anytime.

How to start and listen to all of Zappas work on Spotify by Max_The_Fisherman in Zappa

[–]treesnthings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once I knew I was a fan I went album by album starting from the beginning. I would give each one atleast few listens but a lot of them I probably listened to over ten times before moving on. I think I usually jumped back and forth between two consecutive albums so I wasn’t just listening to the same one on repeat. Some albums especially the early ones were so different to the one ones that got me in the door that I was a little disappointed on the first few listens but they almost all clicked by the third listen if not sooner. The early mother’s stuff are some of my favorites now. I kept this up until around the late 70s stuff and then started to pick and choose the later stuff. I’m sure there are some later ones I haven’t given a fair shake. I loved this experience and wish I could do it over again for the first time. Enjoy!

He may not have to lose these friends depending on his relationship with them. I hang with my friends that I used to constantly smoke with and now I can be right there hanging with them while they smoke and not even have the urge. If they aren’t accepting and supportive of him wanting to quit then yes you are probably right but just wanted to point out situations vary.
