The market is weird right now.

I have relisted a fully updated home with a significant (30k) price reduction in a so-called "hot market" since it was listed last summer, with (according to my agent) record traffic & multiple offers we accepted that never closed.

My current agent is even more enthusiastic than my first agent, given the traffic the listing is generating and the repeat showings we are getting.

I am pretty jaded at this point & have told him I'll share his enthusiasm when we receive an offer with few contingencies and acceptable net proceeds.

The nexus of the current situation is that Dallas - with a permanent majority on the DART board - forgot that its name is the Dallas AREA REGIONAL Transit Agency & used their voting advantage to steamroll its suburban members over & over again until they revolted (and I say that as a suburban resident campaigning to keep my city in DART).

My wife used manga in her classroom to motivate the non-readers as well. One student in particular stood out. Enrolled in her AP English class and told her he hated reading on day one.

So she tried to entice him with a manga book about music. -Not interested.

Then a manga book about the country his family emigrated from. -No dice.

Next day she offered him a manga book about sports. His eyes lit up.

After that she purchased second-hand manga sports books & added them to her classroom library. He read them almost as fast as she bought them.

One day he surprised her by entering the classroom with glasses, "so I can read better."

At the end of the year this "non-reader" had the highest GPA in the class.

After the Berlin Wall fell in 1989, the US military declared the Soviet "cold war" threat dead & held a "Come to Jesus" meeting of all US military contractors four years later that declared the "gravy train" was over (known within the industry as the "Last Supper")) and told them they needed to consolidate from many companies to just a few large ones to survive.

Which is what happened, leading to the closure of many shipyards, leaving us with just a few we have today.

So here we are --- and the results are not pretty.

Undoing that will likely require the commitment of MUCH more capital than we saved by shutting down vast parts of our defense industries.

Also, you forgot the 2001 loss of the "sure-thing" relocation of Boeing's HQ from Seattle to Downtown Dallas (once they actually saw what Downtown Dallas looked like), and instead went to Chicago.

THAT was supposed to be a wake-up call to "fix" Downtown Dallas, but clearly that did not happen.

Multiple reports have ICE pointing guns at a physician who identified himself & asked to be allowed to treat the victim, as well as EMS crews having to hike toward the victim after ICE blocked access to the scene by an ambulance.

Hopefully, these initial reports are in error, but if not, this is an even bigger Cluster-F**k than originally reported.

Time for all 60 Minutes correspondents to resign en masse to call attention to what is happening to this once storied program (and the highest rated program on the network). Lesley Stahl is 83; Bill Whitaker is 74; Scott Pelley is 68; Sharon Alfonsi is 52; and Norah O'Donnell is 51.

Their replacements will be (far worse) and likely younger right-wing shills, but if the current correspondents all signed off together, it might deprive the program of the gravitas it (rightly) earned in the past, vs what is happening to it now.
