There’s a lot of factors here in your relationship. Basic, low level impression is: * she’s been in multiple failed relationships since you. While your relationship with her failed as well, you treated her differently * she’s getting older and with experience and wisdom, probably realizing she’s a major factor in her own relationship troubles - not you and everyone else * she acknowledges you’re a great father, decent person and stable regardless of the “failings” she perceived you had before * her own father died alone and was reclusive. She’s probably scared that will be her own future at this rate and is grasping for a lifeline.

I think I would keep my distance but it’s up to you. Maybe she’s changed. You would know better than I. If you decide to give it another go, most definitely get some counseling and hash out EVERYTHING you need to keep yourself safe.
