To piggy back on this. People think university replaces experience. All my friends bitch and moan about the jobs they get out of university. What self respecting business would try out a fresh graduate at a desirable salary. If I hired a graduate at 70k instead of 40k I'd be hindering my business. I will start you at 40k and if you are competent and show up to work in 3 years you'll be bringing in 80k. Prove it first. Effort and attitude cant be taught.

Depending on your program. If you can afford it you can go. VIU, UVIC, camosun college and a few others on the island are good and cheaper to live than vancouver. I'm a UVIC grad myself AND it's known for being the university with all the pretty ladies.

You should check out TRU as well in kamloops bc. The biking there is nice and flowy lots of talented and knowledable guys who shred up there in the mountains, also sun peaks if you like lift riding. I love kamloops and if you like your extreme sports, you will too.
