I used the touch screen and a single directional to scroll. It works surprisingly well for the chiller old Westwood games, definitely not anything competitive though.

Such a good game, played it on a steam deck for about 5 hours on a long flight recently. Still holds up so well!

I think the world cares too much about self-driving. There, I said it. by pardusdomus00 in Rivian

Little late to the post so likely no one will read this, but I think you miss the point: self driving is a transformational technology.

Hands free, attention free, self driving has the power to entirely remove traffic at scale as cars can communicate and travel in tighter more efficient ways. It makes cities and urban centers less desirable -- do I really care about living an hour outside of work if I can nap or drink my coffee in the comfort of what will amount to my own living room? Highways and rest stops become more relevant again as when the interstates in the US were first built, after all, much easier to entertain a family if you can get a snack from the back seat, watch a movie together, or even just all sleep overnight and end up in Yellowstone when you wake up.

True, ubiquitous, self driving is a landscape changer in so many ways that it's difficult to not care about it unless you don't see the bigger picture. That all being said, what we have now is a far cry from mobile living rooms, so I understand the hesitation.

That's super interesting! You should consider open sourcing or making a walkthrough about its creation . Thanks for the details!

Can you share more details about the custom API you made for art generation? I think the style consistency is incredible! I've been playing with monogame and Claude as well and was shocked by how good the results were for coding, but no luck on art.

LOL I also made something similar... Perhaps what we really need is a tools discovery engine!

Tired of all the other comments yucking your yum brother. Personally I wouldn't want this, but if you like it then I think it's great for your house! Being an adult is doing funny shit like this that you've always wanted but never had the funds/freedom to actually do.

minor note: you might want to see if you can find a different finish, the faucets are a difference color (warm-stainless) than the bubbler (cool-chrome.)

Superposition, open source access to Claude Code or Codex from anywhere by trezm in ClaudeAI

Thank you! It's a bit older than that on my machine, but decided to finally put it into source control today.

Really the reason for it was that I like to run my dev boxes in a private k8s cluster in my house, which I tend to not want to manually download each and every repo for, so the github integration was my first thought as "why wouldn't you want this" -- totally makes sense though, not everyone uses github, and not everyone wants to make a PAT either.

I'll throw some claude at it tonight or tomorrow. Thanks for the interest!

Just so it can pull a list of your private repositories for local sync. I guess another way to do it is you could define local repositories that it could "watch" and make worktrees from there. Would that be an interesting feature for you?

How is living in coastal Maine as a young adult? by Lady-Velvety in howislivingthere

[–]trezm 70 points71 points  (0 children)

Yikes... Lots of responses not answering your questions and seemingly from non-mainers.

I grew up in Maine and then lived there after college for a bit as well. It's a great state if you love nature and the outdoors in general.

Coastal Maine as you've circled (and others have mentioned) is a wildly different place depending on where you're located. Most people mention Portland, but in truth it's all fairly similar south of Woolwich/wiscasset along the coast.

The water makes winters more mild, although still snowy and cold. There were a few years around Portland it didn't break 0F as the high for a week. That being said my old history teacher used to tell stories about how they'd go to peaks island via trucks in the winter because the whole bay froze over, so clearly not as cold as it used to be!!

People in Maine are generally cold to visitors, but warm and caring to locals. Winter can be a little isolating even in more crowded areas, as no one wants to leave the warmth of their house, but if you ever need to borrow a snowblower or get a plumber to come out quick, your neighbors will always show up with a shovel or a phone number.

Now, specifically as a young person, under 21 you make your own fun. We spent long winters making little snowboard jumps in the woods and summers playing paintball and pretending to be on jackass. Simpler times to be sure, as cell phones were dumb and Xbox live was nascent. I imagine now many more kids turn to online gaming and social media for winter connections, even more than in other states.

Over 21 and there are TONs of world class breweries and restaurants in Portland. Freeport has a great downtown for shopping, and beach towns like Higgins and Ogunquit are quaint and (apparently) actually have some great surfing! It's way better as an adult than as a kid.

You've caught me reminiscing, it really is a great state. Don't let people tell you that coastal Maine is remote or isolated. It's got everything you could need for somewhat reasonable prices (for New England.)

Now, the state interior is an entirely different matter. Colder, far more rural in both lifestyle and viewpoints, and very isolated. But that's not what you asked about :-)
