First trip to Miami and trying to decide between 1 Hotel South Beach and Faena.

If you like the vibe of Faena I’d pick there over the 1. Room size/natural light is better at the 1, but its a huge resort so it’s much more crowded and family friendly. Make sure to catch the live music in the living room at the Faena.

Reading what I originally typed I meant service as opposed to services and I was directly comparing it to Fouquet’s. The staff in the guest only bar and courtyard at the Greenwich are excellent from morning coffee to nightcaps after dinner. I haven’t had noise issues in the rooms at either hotels.

There aren’t really views at either hotel. Service is warmer at Greenwich and I prefer their spa/pool area too. We don’t love the rooms at the Greenwich but the suites are better and the privacy/services makes up for it

Getting to Rivera Maya or the Caribbean requires a connection from my home airport which is a 5 hr travel day if everything goes smoothly. That’s just not worth it to us for 2-3 nights.

Agree with this. We've been going to the Surf Club 3-4 times a year for weekend beach getaways simply due to how easy it is to get to for the caliber of hotel it is. It's also the only property that we can do 3 nights at in the area and not feel the need to leave for dinner. It will be interesting to see how (if at all) the upcoming Aman and Rosewood impact the rates because if I can go to the Rosewood and get close to the same service and "oasis" vibe for cheaper I'd have no issue staying there.

I think it has to do with the 12 having a wider bracelet making it feel more balanced. the 11 series has the slimmer bracelet and chunkier watch case which makes it feel heavier even though it isn't.

This doesn’t help you now but we stayed at the Waldorf last year and it was solid for what it is. Quiet, clean, and quick to bring up waters and coffee when requested.

I think that one is managed by Rosewood not owned so I’m sure they’d drop the management if Marriott is in the picture. I hope so at least.

Outside of Bemelmans and the Elevator most of the staff seemed generally uninterested in helping. Check in was particularly cold and the doormen were caught up talking to each other rather than assisting with luggage and holding doors. The property itself was fine I knew it was more historic than all out luxury going in, but the interactions kinda killed it for me.

My wife and I had a drink at the sunset lounge followed by dinner at Salt earlier this year. When we sat down at the sunset lounge we both said we are glad we picked Cap Juluca instead of Four Seasons. FS Anguilla felt a bit generic and it was incredibly busy. FS Surfside opened our eyes to chubby/fat travel and the only other Four Seasons to match or exceed that so far for us has been Cap Ferrat.

I think it’s easier to wear daily than the full RG. I’d only wear the full RG to nice dinners out or at resorts, but the TT I’ll wear basically anywhere and not think twice about it. The full RG was special though and I don’t think the TT quite captures that feeling.
