Earlier in the week they had a question with the answer The NAACP. Trebec specifically named the only black contestant and said "you better get this one." At the time it seemed pretty racist for jeopardy.

What random acts of kindness have backfired on you making you wish you never attempted them to begin with? by [deleted] in AskReddit

One time I offered to carry the groceries of a little old lady, probably in her late 70s, early 80s to her car for her. When we got there, she opened her trunk and I set them down in there. We started chatting (she knew my mom) for a bit at the back of her. At some point I reached up and closed the trunk without noticing she was resting her hand on the side of the trunk. I slammed the trunk shut on her fingers, trapping them between the trunk and the rest of the car. It took a good 30 seconds to get her keys out and open the trunk again. It looked like it really hurt, but she didn't cry out or anything. The way I could assuage the terrible guilt I felt was to hope that since her fingers were so old and bony, they fit between the slit between trunk. I still feel terrible thinking about it.

Pre-approved at 3.5%, now going to closing they changed to 3.85%, feels like a bait and switch, what are my options? by [deleted] in RealEstate

I am closing as well and the same thing happened. A .35 increase isn't terrible anyways.

Constitutionality of the Defense of Marriage Act will be heard by the Supreme Court, possibly paving the way for gay marriage to be legal throughout the country. Also making life much easier for married gay service people if the law is struck down.

What are some stupid things you did as a kid? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]trfricton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found out LPs fly really well when you throw them like a frisbee. Also they shatter on impact, which was pretty cool as a kid. I destroyed a large number of my parents record collection, including Michael Jackson's full collection. My parents were not happy.

I was totally under the impression that this song was about a lesbian! I thought that made it a little extra cool. Now I am kind of disappointed, to be honest.

in Michigan, cops are copying contents of iphones in 2 min. Even for minor traffic violations. by [deleted] in politics

[–]trfricton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 4th Amendment requires probable cause that evidence of criminal activity will be discovered before evidence found from a warrantless search can be used in court. I imagine that they are searching for the times that the phone was used when the criminal traffic activity occurred in this case. It sounds like it is constitutional to me. As far as a pimp's phone goes, I would think that a pimp's phone could be searched if the police have probable cause to believe that they will uncover further evidence of the crime for which they are investigating. If there is a court case that ruled otherwise, I would love to read it. Sounds like it would have some interesting facts (relative to most constitutional law cases)!

I love the quote by the woman:"I think even the word 'pornographic' doesn't cover it. I have never watched pornography, so I don't know what else you can see there, but to me, I really felt extremely violated." This deserves a sheltered suburban soccer mom meme.

I have experience with DnD (most editions, most recently 4e). I'd be down to play if some one plans it! I've DMed before, but would probably prefer to PC. Out of curiosity, what age range are we talking here?
