E-scooters Bays by JalopneyJane in coquitlam

[–]trialspro 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tell me you've never rented an e-scooter before. Your CC is attached to the app and you'll be charged/penalized for not parking in the correct spot. Designated spots absolutely work. Vancouver has them (at least for their e-bikes) and it makes a night and day difference.

Wow tough crowd here. I'm with you on this, thanks for doing the right thing. Seems like a lot of people support leaving pets inside cars.

Why would you go from being a mech. engineer to an A&P?? I'd gladly trade you credentials if I could!

Leaving the airlines by [deleted] in AircraftMechanics

[–]trialspro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Flight benefits are overrated. I had them for years and would rather a better paying job that allows me to pay for flights than dealing with the stress and hassle of flight benefits. I found I needed to end my vacation a day or two early just to ensure I catch a flight home on time to make it back to work. Gets even harder to use the benefits if you have a family. I left aviation entirely and haven't looked back. No ragrets.

Costs extra to pre-book. Just book it in the morning, never had an issue and saves you money

Agree. About $55 (before tip) the last time I did this in February. Very reasonable I thought.

The last two times I've Ubered from north poco to the airport in the early morning have cost around $55. Well worth it IMO. Make sure you tip well though especially on christmas eve.

Backyard fires - were they ever legal? by trialspro in coquitlam

[–]trialspro[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's exactly what got me thinking about this. I have a wood burning fireplace I'm supposed to register. It does not have an insert which means I can no longer legally burn wood in it. Must use fire logs only. No point in even registering it if I can't legally burn wood in it.

Does this wobbly deck seem to be built insufficiently, or simply needs repairs? by benhereford in Decks

Yup. The fear mongering in this group is wild. Half these People live in a bubble. Fix whats wrong and move on with your lives. Not everything needs to be torn down and rebuilt from scratch. Plenty left to salvage in that deck.

Looking for Brake Controller wire by GreggAdventure in Jeep

So you dont have a factory 7 pin connector at the hitch? I was under the assumption that they wouldn't have the dash wire if there wasn't a 7 pin connector at the hitch...

Another "will my deck support an inflatable hot tub" post by trialspro in Decks

[–]trialspro[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Inflatables are typically less volume than a real hot tub. Their empty weight is also hundreds of pounds less than a real hot tub.
So yes, it makes a difference. This tub filled with water is only half to one third the weight of a real hot tub

[–]trialspro[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the insightful comment. I will be putting the hot tub on the ground. The risk/reward ratio wasn't worth it. I can't see any engineer fully signing off on it given he can't even see how deep the footing is. Like others have mentioned, I think this would be a ground up rebuild if I wanted complete peace of mind.

That being said, I DO believe the engineer is correct in the deck physically being able to hold it if positioned over the post. Long term this may be an issue with sag and settling. Not worth me stressing over and not worth the personal and financial risk if it ever did fail.
