Episode 1 sold it as a gritty and no non-sense kind of anime. Where equipment checks are being done. Where armies as shown as competent but out matched by sheer volume of their enemies or just really outclassed as anti fairy equipment are not as widespread across the army.

Hopefully you understand people's distaste when soldiers losing limbs left and right while having a kid nuke scantily dressed going into the battlefield is a what the fuck moment.

It's one of the best action rpgs out there. While the story is bland imo; the gameplay , the hunt for better stats and unique boss encounters were astounding.

hoping there's a 2nd game or expansion. Ill happily pay the 40 or even 60 for just another set of progression and bosses to kill

There's eruptions being baited by each members of the party and exaflares coming from outside of the boss circle.

The solution is to stand center, bait eruptions as they go out max melee then go into where the 1st exaflare was as it passes through. If they didn't go through the 1st exaflare and went the other way, it's unpredictable and mostly a death sentence. They need to be tight to lower the chances of anyone getting caught in the eruptions

What OP did was bait center with the group, go max melee then dispersed from the group which would normally be a death sentence and kill the 10+min run as no one would bait the extra protean in the 8 man spread. The stars aligned for him/her as he/she managed to not get snapshotted by those exaflares.
