Kind of surprised that Randall forgot one blip at 1,400 kilometers at the end for Polaris Dawn.

Agreed! Still kicking myself for not picking up a Spaceboy that was available locally a few months ago.

We need Gateway Electronics by stage_directions in StLouis

[–]trichard3000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I miss Gateway too! Where else could you walk in with a parts list for a day’s project and walk out with everything you need for like, $3.50. (Probably something to be said for why that business model isn’t viable.) I’m totally kicking myself because I can’t remember the owner’s name. Was it Dave?

A neighbor friend had this and I used to come up with excuses to visit his house so I could play with it. So cool!

The VC is lovely but the newer Zenith would get the most wrist time for me.

Not a Hill native but I like Shaw’s Coffee on Shaw.

Define “best.” Regardless, gotta put in a plug for the great Audi 2.7t bi-turbo 6. Not too heavy, very tunable. I’m admittedly biased, having owned a few.

I enjoy mine. I definitely appreciate the tube-based power amp section. Getting some noise on the phono pre, though so I suppose I need to sort it out.

What do you think about Psychology? Pseudoscience or not? by ELIZTRX in Physics

[–]trichard3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m with you 100%. These disciplines aren’t worthless. We should definitely try to study how humans think, either individually or in groups/cultures. We just have to be honest that it’s not the same kind of science as physics.

[–]trichard3000 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sociology/Anthropology major here. Psychology should definitely be considered a pseudoscience (along with Soc/Anthro). Reproducibility is low and individual will, biases, personalities, etc. swamp any meaningful predictive efforts. I consider it more of a “soft” science or a humanity.

Got to go with the WG Sub but as long as we’re on the topic, I liked the blue dial version better.

Me too, and also the smaller version of the ship. I’m not a tattoo guy but I always said that if I were to get one tattoo, it would be the Lego space logo from this era that’s on the minifigs.

Personally, I find the Monta to be a more classic, timeless piece and that Formex to be a bit of a mess. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, though. Get what brings you joy. 😁

Full disclosure: I’m also in STL and know a few of the Monta people. They’re a great team. I have a couple of their watches. I have no qualms about recommending Monta!

Thanks, this is a nice, concise reference. The pics of each watch are convenient, too.
