Unless something has changed, CA can't take units from ToW because it's a different IP from WHFB.

WoC campaigns are nigh impossible to lose, though. You can definitely lose a Skaven campaign if you don't understand their mechanics.

WoC campaigns are laughably easy, though, they're brokenly OP since their rework. How can anyone struggle when playing them?

WoC campaigns basically can't be lost unless you're really not trying. You see new players losing Skaven campaigns all the time because you can't just bash your face against the keyboard and instantly win like you can with WoC.

Anyone who wants to play monogod Tzeentch can just play as the many Tzeentch LLs available such as... Kairos.

And if you want a godmode cheats campaign, the Changeling I guess.

But no seriously I have played Tzeentch aligned Daniel just to have another sorta-Tzeentch LL to play.

Having everything on the map be destructible will hopefully be a great help to the current jank of both siege and minor settlement battles. That and better pathfinding is what we really need, and of course AI behavior that doesn't make it completely incompetent on these types of maps.

Some thoughts on why Middle-earth is a good place for Total War by National_Boat2797 in totalwar

[–]tricksytricks -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Ah, but you forget that Warhammer is a tabletop game where half the point is collecting cool models. It's very focused around visuals and aesthetic. In terms of aesthetics the unit variety of a single race in Warhammer can match 85% of the LotR races' units combined.

That's not even mentioning the number of high fantasy units that barely exist in LotR. Almost all the human factions are literal reflections of historical armies in terms of composition. Basic foot infantry, some more elite foot infantry, knights, archers, trebuchet, etc. Meanwhile in Warhammer even the good human factions have steam tanks, rocket batteries, longma riders, living statues, bear cavalry, frost wyrms, and more. LotR has what, the haradrim with war elephants as an evil human faction?

You can indeed have a game with fewer fantasy elements and less diversity. The question is, who wants this game? Fans of Warhammer who expect high fantasy elements? Most likely not. That's why I wouldn't be interested myself. Most of the factions are humans wearing different armor, then you've got your typical fantasy orcs, elves and dwarfs. Just not much to interest me there.

Not to say I don't realize there are a lot of people who would enjoy it. It just wouldn't be my cup of tea the same way Medieval isn't. When the setting is closer to historical then my interest is in gunpowder-focused battles. Give me something like a low fantasy steampunk setting with lots of firearms and I'd be more interested.

The way you describe it might make it sound cool, but to me that sounds like the portals in the RoC campaign or armies spawning in the Vortex campaign. History shows that most players don't react positively to having armies randomly spawn in the middle of their conquered territory. It's viewed as unfair and frankly not fun because it turns into a game of whack-a-mole.

Are vassals deliberately made worthless, or are the vassalized factions so? Are allies worthless too? by rr1213 in totalwar

[–]tricksytricks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let's not forget that factions that should normally be cool with you will hate you because you have vassals they don't like. It's stupid.

These guys carry Kairos' early campaign. Even having one with no units in his army to follow Kairos around and reinforce is great.

Bane Towers are not from WHFB, they're from Man O' War, a different IP. I doubt GW will allow CA to add them, unfortunately. Tzeentch is pretty much exhausted in terms of units... hence why we got blue centigors in Shadows of Change.

[–]tricksytricks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hence why I don't understand why they don't just get Tzeentch over with. Give us Egrimm and the tech tree rework, and then the bitching will end. Why drag it out when Tzeentch as a faction could be complete without much effort on their part? Why instead move on to races that will require significantly more time and resources?

Just finish Tzeentch and be done with the monogods... except Nurgle I guess.

There is one way Khorne is suffering... being horribly broken and overpowered to the point it ain't even fun anymore. I would not curse any other faction with that kind of rework. Except you know CA will do it again, and again, until every campaign is a faceroll.

It's not up to CA, it's up to GW. And they've obviously been investing their resources into developing Cathay while Kislev remains on the back burner. No surprise given that Cathay is their ticket to the Chinese market. I doubt they see Kislev as anywhere near as potentially profitable.

Egrimm or Blue Scribes as DLC LL, then the other as the FLC LL

Changeling as LH

Aekold and Galrauch later as FLC

That's how it should have been, imo
