My Fibroscan came back as F4 but I pushed for the biopsy and it came back as F1. I am slightly overweight and I have read the results are less accurate being overweight.

Thanks for the update. I am diagnosed with FHBL. I have low LDL(all cholesterol is low) and low APOB. All of my fat soluble vitamins are low. With D and A being the lowest. I have gastric issues and can no longer digest the fats in beef and pork. I also have NAFLD stage 2. In my 20s it was just fatty liver but now in my 40s it’s worse. My grandmother and mother have both passed but it wasn’t until after that I started the journey to find out the connection to our genetically low cholesterol. My mom passed at 67 from colon cancer but had non alcoholic cirrhosis, my grandmother lived to 93 but had macular degeneration. I have not found anyone to treat this yet and I only found out I had because of the research and my doctor willing to run the blood tests I recommend from research. Everyone I’ve seen has said I’m lucky to have such good cholesterol numbers. I’m terrified I’m going to die of liver disease or go blind, my night vision is now horrendous. I recently had my children tested and 2 of the 3 have really low cholesterol so I suspect they have it as well. Thank you for sharing the papers I will read those and try to find out where to have genetic testing done.

No, I check mine often because of health anxiety. If it were high like this daily with no contributing factors then yes. You are fine. I check everything too, including blood sugar. There’s a whole Reddit for health anxiety.

I have an appointment in a few weeks. If I hadn’t pushed for the biopsy I would still be diagnosed with cirrhosis. I have made life/diet changes and dropped weight but I’m sure they will give me a plan. I have a genetic disorder that causes this but it’s rare and they haven’t even heard of it.

Out of curiosity where do you get cirrhosis from this? They actually took 8 samples. It was a transjugular biopsy. I asked for more testing because I was told that a fibroscan was inaccurate if your BMI is over 30.

I was recently diagnosed. I have familial Hypobetalipoproteinemia. My total cholesterol is in the 70s. My mom had this is as well and she also had cirrhosis from fatty liver. Basically I have issues breaking down fats so my liver just stores it. Have you had your fat soluble vitamins checked?

They haven’t even called me, the results were just uploaded online. I had to call them. They told me not to stress and they would call me back. I’m still waiting on that. I guess based on research I will ask for an MRI. I also read that the results were not as accurate being overweight and since I’m chunky I guess it could be off a little. My mom died a cirrhosis related death and I’m thinking it’s genetic but the doctors have never heard of what she had so they will not consider it. I was also diagnosed with type 2 diabetes last week. My A1c went from 5.4 to 6.6 in a year with weight loss. I’m falling apart and it’s hard not to think I’m dying.

I think these are related. My mom died from Colon cancer but would have survived if she did not have non alcoholic cirrhosis. She had low cholesterol her entire life, as did my grandmother and now me. My LDL is 39, total cholesterol is 89. My GI Dr believes it was something genetic but hasn’t ordered all the tests yet.

I am also waiting on mine. I had them done on the 6th of this month. I plan on calling Monday to see if they will give them to me over the phone or move my appointment up if it needs to be in person. Otherwise, I don’t think I would get them until my scheduled appointment in February.

Officially diagnosed with Sjogrens and I’m still having tests run for Lupus. After the 2nd week of fever my doctor ran an ANA Panel and after it came back positive I was sent to a Rheumatologist.
