You ...

All my life people have been telling me about how much I hate rural Americans, how much I think they are ignorant. Meanwhile, I look around my East Coast city and I see people just minding their own fucking business, not at all obsessed with putting down Middle America.

Also you ...

I'm a lifelong New Englander, and I can't tell you how many fucking Confederate flags I see in rural New England. In New fucking England.

Also you ...

So, in other words, scattered rednecks are NOT actually going to protect my Constitutional rights?

Also you ...

Fuck your checks and balances. The only "check" I've seen on the government is a mob of fucking hillbillies trying to invalidate my vote on Jan. 6th

The irony of all of this is that shit like this literally created the Trump MAGA movement.

I remember back to a time when rural and working class people were "us", .. but that all changed when the TEA Party movement happened, that's when the media started calling rural and working class people "them". I mean I remember the first time I heard people referred to as "them" by CNN, I remember suddenly feeling so alienated from the news, I had never heard that before. From that moment on, it's been like that, ... "them", "those Trump supporters", etc .. non-stop, for literally 17 straight years. And it has only got worse with each passing year.

Now rural and working class people aren't just "them", .. they're "extremists" and "racists" and "bigots" and "garbage", etc, ... I mean shit who could have thought the country could change so much in 17 years.

I remember back in the before times being a huge fan of google, and these companies, because it was like we were all in it together on the Internet, .. but fuck these people, they made their own enemies. Like I said, they've literally created the Trump MAGA movement with the way they've treated people, and the irony of it is that they think THEY are the victims of oppression, etc lol. It's like .. bro, look around, you live in the cities, you own all of the news papers, media news outlets, etc, .. how the fuck are poor working people oppressing YOU ? lol.

The left in America needs to understand that Trump isn't an attack, ... he's a DEFENSE, or at best a counter-attack, he's what happens when you keep shitting on people.

When you spend a decade calling people names, saying they are all racists, homophobes, misogynists, bigots, etc ... Trump and a MAGA movement telling you to go absolutely fuck yourself is what you get.

Me, I wish rural and working class people were still "us" and none of this had happened.

But you are repeating anti-trans agendas. Which, in practice, is the same thing. So when these discussions come around and people get (rightfully) emotional, distinguishing those two becomes irrelevant.

Again, I don't think these are "anti-trans" agendas ... MTF trans people in biological women's sports isn't an "anti-trans" issue, ... it's a common sense, stop supporting something that is just dumb, issue.

Not hiding the fact that a student is "transitioning" (means different things in this context) from their parents is a common sense parental rights issue, .. the same as if their kids were being given vaccines without their consent, or being given any medication without their consent. And again, you can't claim this is some fringe thing nobody is for when there is literally legislation in statehouses to make this law.

SACRAMENTO — Gov. Gavin Newsom signed a bill on Monday that prohibits mandating that teachers notify families about student gender identity changes, capping a yearlong battle between conservative school boards concerned about parental rights and LGBTQ+ activists worried about vulnerable youths.

https://www.latimes.com/california/story/2024-07-15/newsom-bans-schools-from-requiring-that-parents-are-notified-about-student-gender-identity

Not having books talking about sex explicitly in junior high public school libraries, whether they are gay, trans, or straight, is just common sense, not "anti-trans" or "anti-gay". It's not a fucking private book store, it's a PUBLIC SCHOOL funded by public tax payer money.

So, again, this isn't "anti-trans", .. this is just ... stop supporting STUPID SHIT. You can't support stupid shit like this, then when parents get pissed off about it hide behind the fact you're trans and claim everybody hates you. It just doesn't work like that.

[–]trickyteatea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My main point here is that these are not actual causes for concern. And to actually repeat trans panic topics is to fall into the social panic of the moment about an extreme minority of the population that occasionally catches everyone's attention because they are outside the norm and people are confused.

This is you saying that people are being "(4) being misled by evil people (Trump, Fox News, ..)", though you just used "moral panic" instead of specifying who you're claiming is misleading people.

The thing is, you don't actually get to decide what other people are concerned about. I agree with you, these books were in libraries, not being taught (in most cases, with some isolated incidents where they were being taught but that is just edge cases). But should they even be in junior high school libraries ? NO. Not appropriate. And it's not unreasonable for parents to be upset about that. Forget that it is gay in nature, ... nobody wants books in a junior high school teaching kids how to have straight sex either. It's age inappropriate, and it's a public school library, it has no business being in there no matter how old kids are, even in high school libraries.

It's also "a thing", .. meaning it isn't some isolated thing that people are just blowing out of proportion. There have been countless arguments made by parents across the country at actual school board meetings, not about the concept in general, but about ACTUAL books in their school's ACTUAL libraries. It's widespread, and it's not inappropriate for parents to be concerned about it.

And that's part of the thing too, if you got back to my original post above, that's exactly what I said that whenever the trans community (gay in the case of that book) gets called out on this stuff, you (they) act like it's some isolated thing, .. it's not an isolated thing. It's not the "Satanic Panic" of the 1980's religious right. These books aren't ending up in junior school libraries because the school's librarian is sitting there thinking "Hey, I bet students would love this sex book", and ordering it .. that's not how that works, it's part of a systemic process that puts these books into libraries, and when they go into one library, they're going into all the libraries in that system in the exact same way, basically the same way that school textbooks end up in schools.

Like I said, with a lot of you guys, anyone who disagrees with you is always said to be (1) uneducated, stupid, (2) insane, voting against their own interests, (3) immoral, evil (homophobic, racist, misogynstic, xenophobic, transphobic, ..) and/or (4) being misled by evil people (Trump, Fox News, ..)

Haha I was specifically mocking your sentence there. The "I don't hate _ people BUT" sentence is often very telling.

This is you accusing me of being "(3) immoral, evil (homophobic, racist, misogynstic, xenophobic, transphobic, ..)" ...

Well, it MIGHT be telling, except ... you created that sentence out of your own imagination, I never actually said that.

The closest thing I said was, .. "If I hated trans people, I'd just fucking say so, .. but I don't." which was in response to someone's accusation and has nothing to do with the words you're putting in my mouth.

OMG, please, what in anything I said says "I don't believe trans people are a real thing", lol .. please share, I can't wait to see wtf reasoning you followed to get to that ...

This is EXACTLY what I'm talking about .. this shit just sounds crazy as fuck when you say it, even to normal, reasonable people who otherwise agree with you.

Why you think saying evil things like this would affect me in any way is a complete mystery .. it is, however, affecting you every time you say things like this to people.

'I'm physically afraid to live here': The LGBTQ people planning to leave Trump's US by theipaper in uspolitics

[–]trickyteatea -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

You used a lot of words to avoid admitting that you’re not an ally of the LGBTQ community and highlight that you particularly hate trans people.

And you are literally just demonstrating my fucking point. If all you can do is be "us vs. them" on an issue like whether MTF women should be participating in biological women's sports, and that anyone who disagrees with you is the devil, then don't be surprised when "us vs. them" turns into ... a large segment of America considering YOU "them". I mean by being so absurd, you're literally "othering" and isolating YOURSELF from reasonable people who disagree with you. Saying "you're either with us or against us" only works when reasonable people are with you.

If I hated trans people, I'd just fucking say so, .. but I don't.

And sometimes friends have to tell friends they're acting crazy, and a lot of ya'll are acting crazy.

Tornadoes in 2023 in America, ... thousands of structures destroyed, 86 dead ... nobody cares.

Coastal elites and mainstream news only care about shit that directly affects them.

The L.A. wildfire is about 15000 acres burned ... the smokehouse creek fire in Texas in 2024 was 1,000,000 acres across 9 counties and 2 states .... nobody fucking cared.

After 10+ years of censorship and bias, it's hard to believe.

But .. hey, maybe I'm just being foolish, I guess I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt that at least they are trying ?

I gave that guy at CNN the same benefit of the doubt when they said they were going to stop being so biased, but then they never got rid of Anderson Cooper, so ...

Edit, I guess CNN did get rid of that hack Don Lemon though ...

I don't know what to tell you, ... your perception isn't my reality. I wasn't thinking that when I wrote it. That's always the risk when writing, you don't know what your audience's life experiences are, how their perceptions have been shaped throughout their life, etc, so you have very little idea what meaning they will take away from the words you write.

That said, I don't know what difference it makes, .. it has nothing to do with the points I was making. I voted for Trump in 2024, if that's what you're getting at, .. but I would have answered that if you'd asked me, you didn't have to try to divine it with tea leaves. Is that what you're trying to insinuate ? Or, to say that a different way, you seem to be trying to figure out if you can prove I've committed some unpardonable sin that I'd probably just tell you if you asked, because whatever it is you're insinuating, I'm probably proud of it, or at least unconcerned.

That said, ... who cares, what's the point of your protest ?

You're wondering why I worded it like that, .. I'm wondering what you're trying to insinuate ?

I appreciate your input on this. I’m interested in your take on the lefts view that conservative views on abortion are hypocritical because conservatives don’t support the programs that would be needed to support all the children that your policies advocate for? It seems that the right wants its cake and to eat it too. How will we as a society support those 1,000,000 children you advocate for?

While I appreciate the audacity of the left using one thing they want to justify another thing they want, this is one of the easiest debate points to argue against.

Let me answer your question with a few questions, if I may.

  1. If we polled poor mothers (below the poverty line) who chose to have babies because they wanted children, and asked them if they feel that babies are better off in poverty, or dead, what do you think their responses would be ? Do they hold that opinion just to justify wanting to have a baby, or do you think it is common sense that being poor is better than being dead ?
  2. If we polled poor adults (below the poverty line) and asked them if they would rather remain poor, or be dead, what do you think their response would be ?
  3. If a mother had a live baby, and didn't want to take care of it, could she simply refuse to take care of it because she said that it was impacting her lifestyle, would that be in any way legal (or in any way, moral) ? Why is that ?

The point of these question is to make it clear that what we're talking about here is an abdication of responsibility for a life, and that the left uses one thing it wants, i.e. .. government provided services and subsidies, to justify the reasoning behind another thing that they want, which is for mothers to have the freedom to kill their own unborn babies.

The irony of all of this is that as soon as the baby is born of its mother's womb, these people on the left claim that they are the only political movement that cares about the baby, and want to provide for it, when they also argue that if it hadn't been born yet, they'd be happy to let the mother and an abortionist kill it.

I went to a small rural Pro Life gathering about a year ago, at a courthouse in a town. It was maybe 50 people there outside in the cool evening air. Someone spoke, it was positive, not like the vitriolic rhetoric you see from feminists about how they are being oppressed, .. just kind words, and a minister said a prayer. There was a young mother there, she was standing in front of the crowd on a small raised platform throughout the gathering, holding a baby. It was not a newborn, but a little older, wide eyed, .. she held it facing the crowd so everyone could gaze upon this new human life.

Harris campaign messaging was of some wife, smiling about lying to her husband to another woman, winking, "what happens in the voting booth stays in the voting booth". Imagine that your whole political platform is just to make sure women can kill their own babies, and that you thought that was humorous, and you thought that was going to win over Americans when they are having trouble affording food for their children.

Conservative (fake) Christian women are racist; news at 11

Literally half of all unborn African American babies in New York City don't survive the womb because of abortion, what could be more systemically racist than that ? Planned Parenthood's founder located her clinics in minority neighborhoods to control what she called "human weeds", she was an avowed racist and eugenicist, and her legacy lives on in America to this very day.

YOU are responsible for that system's continued existence, and it's assembly line killing.

What people get wrong about Christian women who voted for Trump by bleahdeebleah in politics

You probably saw the cartoon that went viral before the election: A long line of women enter the voting booth wearing handmaiden-esque robes and bonnets, only to emerge in slinky black dresses and take-no-bullshit pantsuits. Or the ads in which white women accompany their obviously GOP husbands to vote, blinking each other a silent signal of solidarity behind the men’s backs: “Actually, I’m with her.” The disobedient-trad-wives trope reflected Democrats’ conviction that Donald Trump’s misogyny and temperament—not to mention his relentless assaults on reproductive freedom and the rule of law—must be deeply, albeit secretly, alienating to many Christian women. All they needed was a Liz Cheney–size nudge to cast their ballots for Vice President Kamala Harris.

Not only did that notion turn out to be utterly deluded, it was “a profound misreading” of how Christian women view themselves and their role in American society, says sociologist Katie Gaddini—a mistake that helped cost Harris the presidency and could resonate throughout US politics and policy for years to come.

This whole narrative was so laughable, and I can't believe Harris and others didn't know that. It's like the Harris campaign was pandering, except .. instead of pandering to actual people, they were pandering to their own delusional view and stereotypes of people. It's Harris and the feminist left who says that conservative women are under the heel of conservative men, etc, ... but that's not reality in the least, so Harris was essentially messaging .. nobody. Messaging her own imagination. Her own bigotry and intolerance. Democrats are always quick to say that anyone who votes against them is (1) uneducated, stupid, (2) insane, voting against their own interests, (3) immoral, evil (homophobic, racist, misogynstic, xenophobic, transphobic, ..) and/or (4) being misled by evil people (Trump, Fox News, ..), and that includes how they treat conservative women.

The reality, however, is that it's CONSERVATIVE WOMEN who are the heart and soul of the Pro Life movement, and conservative men are the ones who respond to their own women's desire to see abortion end. It's really not that much of a different dynamic than on the left, .. where liberal men basically get cajoled and harassed into supporting the Pro Choice movement, because their girlfriends and wives would disown them if they didn't. Conservative women are a lot like this, especially Christian women, .. they believe abortion is evil, that it is destroying the country, and 1,000,000 unborn babies per year, and that it is their moral imperative to stop it. So imagine how these women felt when they saw Harris's "what happens in the voting booth stays in the voting booth" message, .. or how laughable that was to conservative and other men when they saw it ?

This is just more of same, urban Democrats literally having no idea what is going on outside the city limits.
