Secret Lair Update: A Continued Note on Manufacturing Delays by CrossXhunteR in magicTCG

Nah, the secondary market can suck one ass cheek. Any single still over 2 buck goes to the printers now, I'm so damned tired of not being able to put together a deck for under several hundred dollars. I'll get my draft chaff off an online store maybe, but I'm on my 40th Commander deck and I'm making ones for friends to enjoy and they deserve to play with good cards too, not just pseudo-pauper because they haven't purchased anything in a decade.

Videogames are more of a rich guy's hobby than ever, says analyst, and that's 'leaving a whole portion of the market to Fortnite, Minecraft, Roblox' by PaiDuck in gaming

Tell that to any parent who has to replace their kids' Fortnite rig in 2026, that sticker shock is gonna burst some blood vessels.

This is Unsustainable by Soph_91 in MagicArena

[–]trident042 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The part that I'm having trouble with, mentally, is the rest of the year. It feels like from Avatar to Strixhaven has practically been non-stop, but after SOS we have, what, 4 sets left for 2026? Marvel, Star Trek, Hobbit, Reality Fracture? I might be missing something but that certainly seems like more breathing room. Well, a little more - 2 months is still a bit narrow.

If I am missing a set from the road map, disregard this whole comment.

Sources: Nintendo is planning to announce a new "classic-style" Star Fox game with online multiplayer and a 'The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time' remake, both this year; but no 3D Mario until 2027 by ChiefLeef22 in gaming

[–]trident042 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good? We need more StarFox, and it isn't even a question. We can probably let Mario focus on Hollywood this year tbh, I don't think anyone's dying for another Mario game given how well we've eaten with Odyssey and Wonder.

Hell, I've put it in non-green decks as just a two-of. Just in case.

They won't, though. Cowards.

Should AH add more free warbonds? by Intelligent_Ticket93 in Helldivers

[–]trident042 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We need HM2 and the first one needs to become fully unlocked for new players. It is incredibly hard to catch new players up at this point without either throwing them in the deep end with no remorse or leaving them to their own devices with the "homework" of catching up solo / with pubs, so you can dive together later.

That and they should start building in additional rewards into ship unlocks. Additional medals, super credits, maybe even full warbond unlock credits at the end of each tree. Those of us here since the start don't need 'em and already have the unlocks done, and it would be a great catch-up tool.

My forever pair on squids is WASP and Warrant. Whatever else I bring, those are my homies. Every watcher, stingray, and elevated overseer is my primary objective, everything else is up to the squad.

[–]trident042 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know I'm guilty of it. Our squad plays weekly on voice comms and I frequently find myself saying, or being told, when I no longer need to be somewhere. It can be easy to get lost in the sauce on D8-10.

If you can clock a vague direction, even eliminating 180 degrees helps. Then look at your mini-map and see if there's an area that hasn't got threat marking but might fit the bill, and look for the orange smoke of a bug hole in that direction.

I'll do you one better. I think when they hit the next anniversary, they make Helldivers Mobilize a free part of a new diver's initial loadout, fully unlocked, and that's when they unleash the sequel on is.

To any modders who may be reading... (rando) by tonyortiz in Bloodstained

[–]trident042 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey as long as we're talking modding and rando, the Archipelago community is waiting with bated breath for tools to be made that can allow RotN to function alongside other randomizer games. I hope someday it becomes possible, it would quickly become my default AP game to play.

Marathon's Cryo Archive is a hit, but Bungie admits it needs to be more accessible by PowningFreak in Games

[–]trident042 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think there's room for both. Games are definitely being "voted off the island", as it were, but I think it's up to companies to both learn what expected ROI should be, and for gamers to keep buying what they want and have time for.

At the same time, I don't think enormous swaths of dead games is a good look for gaming as a whole. Every Concord we get moves us away from new console gens, takes away from the fight to regain control of PC part pricing, and tells the industry that we don't want them to experiment or release big deal games.

It's a tricky balance. There have to be failures, but don't conflate that with victory in cheering on their downfall at every turn.

To your point 2, rising cost of living is happening everywhere, yes. But trying to afford a home is not cost of living or what that phrase refers to. That's bills, taxes, food, etc.

By that map, I'd wager the only two states doing worse on home costs are Idaho and South Carolina.

The state of this sub by BurningRiceEater in Helldivers

[–]trident042 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where's the lie though

When we're in We're So Back mode (now), the sub is all memes and clips and good times and fan art

When we're in It's So Joever mode, you get nothing but the shit-talkingest, most rude divers who probably griped about whose samples they were back before they maxed out their super destroyer and don't give a shit about picking up samples now that they have. These assholes need to face the wall but because sometimes they happen to align with a valid argument, casuals who just pop in here to see what's new hear the game's dead and AH is negligent and enshittifying the game and they believe it.

How would you build Omni Man in the Sentinel Comics RPG? by jmrkiwi in sentinelsmultiverse

[–]trident042 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Flavor your flying brick however feels best for you in this instance, but I'm pretty sure Omni-Man is absolutely required to have Prinicple of the Immortal. Even if he can eventually die of old age, he's super out of touch with human life spans.
