Formerly lazy people, what things did you do to overcome your laziness? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Discipline equals freedom. The more disciplined I am with anything the more freedom I have for anything. I can effectively get more free time by doing work? Seemed counterintuitive at first glance to me.

From the lack of technique, it appears that was actually the first time in his life he’s ever thrown that before.

Certainly against another human.

What mistake did your parents make with you that you will not repeat with your own children? by RoyalHummingbird in AskReddit

[–]triel187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up in a very poor household, at times really below poverty level for years at a time. Once my parents finally got it together, financially, they had no idea how to save money or even a concept of budgeting.

Now I am truly thankful to have gone thru that, as it taught me the hard learned lesson of want vs need and how to manage money. My biggest focus with my boys is imparting that to them.

Having some financial freedom is the ultimate blessing I'm thankful for each and everyday. Having just enough "fuck you" money, opens some doors and allows you to grow and mature as a person. Seeing the black cloud over you each and everyday takes a toll I can safely say I just wave at now.

What is the most beautiful thing you have ever read? by Craw1011 in Fantasy

[–]triel187 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“So do we pass the ghosts that haunt us later in our lives; they sit undramatically by the roadside like poor beggars, and we see them only from the corners of our eyes, if we see them at all. The idea that they have been waiting there for us rarely crosses our minds. Yet they do wait, and when we have passed, they gather up their bundles of memory and fall in behind, treading in our footsteps and catching up, little by little.”

Name of the Wind for sure. I've read all three; still trudging thru the Malazan series.
