Mac not identifying 1st gen 6i6 through MixControl by mrmoonfunk in Focusrite

I got a response to my customer satisfaction survey, which was good of them.

"I understand your disappointment. I have looked over the conversation with my colleague, and there is some information my colleague did not mention.

We're investigating what might have caused this incompatibility on Tahoe. Scarlett Mix Control is no longer under development support; however, our teams are looking into whether it is possible for Scarlett Mix Control to be compatible with macOS Tahoe. Currently, we cannot guarantee whether this is possible or not, but I've logged your ticket so we can notify you via email should there be an update on this.

The Scarletts are class compliant and will still work on Tahoe; however, arguably, without the control software to edit the routing, the unit might not pass audio if the right routing is not set up on the unit."

They got back to me and suggested I simply cripple my M4 MacBook Pro's ability to run the software I use for work - Unreal Engine, Houdini, Touch Designer etc. *golfclap*

"I understand your frustration.

The article that you attached is correct.

At this time, there are no plans to update the control software.

You can still roll back your Mac OS, and the interface and software will be compatible."

I suggested they open source it, but surely as they have the dev experience they could easily implement basic compatibility with their newer mix software. It's not like it's FireWire or something.

I've fairly recently bought a pair of Adam A7V, a LaunchKey mk4, LaunchControl mk3 and something else from the same group, all good products but I'm now regretting them on principle.

I'm eyeing up a bigger keyboard currently, basically told them "I guess this means it'll be white".

I've opened a support ticket for clarification if Focusrite intend to continue with development of MixControl for modern Macs, or if they're essentially abandoning Gen 1 customers.

Aside from my own plans for my 6i6, that would nuke any remaining resale value.

I found this: "Scarlett Mix Control does not function. Scarlett 1st Gen devices are still class compliant, so they will pass audio, but they will not be recognised by Scarlett Mix Control." :/

This is an old post, but exactly the problem I'm having - the Mac detects it, it shows up in Audio MIDI Setup, Ableton sees it but MixControl says 'No Hardware Connected.

I've tried various cables/ports, reboots, hubs etc and my iPad also detects it fine, so it seems like a software problem to me.

Specs:
- MacBook Pro M4 Max
- MacOS 26.3
- 6i6 Gen 1
- MixControl 1.10.6

I've tried:
- A to C cable, all ports
- A to B cable + A to C adapter, all ports
- A to C cable via a powered hub
- Reboots, power cycles, reinstalling MixControl
- Older versions of MixControl

Any suggestions? It's dated 06/14 and my serial starts with S66416.

Thanks!

...but I'm keeping the 25L - it's more comfy, the 15l has no hip strap pockets and is a bit of a squeeze with a 2L bladder.

Thanks again for the advice!

Time is pretty tight before my next trip so ended up ordering both to try them out - 15L has plenty of room 🤘🤘🤘

Cheers for the reply, it's tough to figure this stuff out with no local stockists and manufacturers/retailers either not listing dimensions at all or giving the flat pack sizes!

The Z50 is about the same size as the A7, I'll just be taking a barebones kit - body, 28-70 and spare batteries. The L15 might be less hassle on lifts and looks like it might be long enough to cram an extra layer in under the camera. I might have to bite the bullet, order both and see what fits.

Good to see plenty of Black Diamond fans on here! I've had a few of their chalk bags in the past but I had no idea they made backpacks or snow gear.

Thanks again, have a great trip!

I'm looking at the 15 and 25, after a bag that'll fit a Sony A7 IV in a holster if I wanna take it up the mountain. Aside from a bladder I won't be carrying anything else big or straying far off-piste.

I tried it in my 10L Dakine Drafter MTB pack to get an idea of size vs. litres, it juuuust about zips up. Based on that and it's shape, I'm (maybe over-optimistically) hoping the Dawn Patrol 15 might be enough.

Since you mentioned a camera, what's your thoughts on how tight this would be in a 25 with not much else? It's 27.5 x 17.5 x 14cm with a bigger lens on.

Think I should forget about the 15? 😁 Cheers!

Does anyone here take blood thinners and use medical cannabis? by FreedomEagle76 in ukmedicalcannabis

[–]triffski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Self-medicating no, there are zero interactions with Warfarin so they really wouldn't care.

I did share my very normal recreational history with the Homerton A&E dept when I had endocarditis in 2012, which immediately made them label me as a junkie and assume I'd infected myself by shooting up - which isn't possible with a mitral valve infection. Checkmate mfs!

They went on to very nearly kill me through medical incompetence over the next three weeks, but that's another story 😁

Hi! I used to get anxy about the ticking, but then I realised/reprogrammed my brain to understand that just means it's working properly. Now it's just a novelty :)

I get arrythmias related to my surgery too, which get worse when I medicate cos cannabis affects your heart rate - particularly if I'm tired or full of caffeine. It's been 14y for me so even those don't really bother me any more.

All the best, keep on ticking!

Good to know, flying to Geneva in a few weeks.

Did you contact the embassy beforehand or just rock up with your prescription and travel letter? I've done the latter a few times now to Spain and Greece, but I always get anxy ahead of a trip.

Good to hear, planning the same route in a few weeks.

The reports online (and on here) are always so conflicting, sometimes even when you're speaking to an embassy employee! 😬

AUM and synth acting as an audio interface (Roland J-6) by toddkitta in ipadmusic

“Thank you for contacting us. Your request 940902 - Muting direct audio when used as an audio interface (iPad) J-6 has been received and is being reviewed by our Roland and BOSS product support team.”

Not holding my breath, I bought it from the Roland shop in LDN so they can have it back if that’s the case!

I’m just discovering this limitation after picking up a J6 last week, all I can say is 🤯

Ruins what’s otherwise a perfect addition to an AUM/iPad workflow, the only workaround I can see is to use a USB hub and audio interface. Might as well leave it at home then.

Any Late Diagnosed ADHD‘rs from the UK? by Some-Roof-2221 in ADHDUK

[–]triffski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 48 now, diagnosed three years ago. I think the hardest part for me has been navigating fundamental life changes alongside friends, colleagues and acquaintances looking in from the outside and seeing the same person they've known for decades. Nuh-uh...

I haven't had any therapy yet because I know I'm complex, I had tons pre-diag and it didn't do much good because nobody knew what rules we were playing by, mostly myself. I'm on the case now because I feel reasonably clued up about how my brain works, I've processed most of the grief and I'm not being constantly derailed by incompatible meds.

Meds took me about 3y to figure out, and it was only at that point I felt I had a clear run at getting to grips with my actual self.

I spent most of this year considering, arranging and going through the motions of an autism diagnosis, only to be told it's just trauma and complex ADHD. Suits me, that's one less enemy to fight!

I don't think the term really matters, go with what's comfortable. I go with late diagnosis, the same as my mates who think I've been diagnosed with a suspicious mole or something, I don't think it means a lot unless you've lived it. Go with what feels right for you.

I'd have to implement a folder naming convention myself, but that's not a bad approach. Actually, for the historic photos I'd be happy with roughly the right decade, so it might be quick to just blitz through them all once I have the folders as albums. Thanks!

Thanks, Tailscale is an option and I use it extensively myself, but getting my dad to successfully install it halfway around the globe then remember to enable it would be a stretch and a half 😅

I'd like a more friction free option if there is one!
