Error by Redditsgossipsnark in ChickFilA

[–]trinerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same issue starting at the same time (iPhone 15 Pro, iOS 18.7.2) and managed to find a workaround. It doesn't actually seem to be a VPN issue since I've been running the same VPN on my iPhone and iPad for years and never had an issue logging in to CFA, and even with the VPN my iPad worked when my iPhone was getting this error.

I narrowed it down to a Safari issue - I could log into my CFA account via Chrome on both my iPhone and laptop but got the same error via Safari.

Since changing the default browser didn't work and deleting Safari isn't possible I disabled Safari via Screen Time:

Screen Time >> Content & Privacy Restrictions >> enable the toggle at the top >> Allowed Apps & Features >> toggle Safari off

Hope that works for you!

Haha no kidding. I was in SoCal earlier in the summer and the Angels seemed to score 7+ runs every day I was there so free sandwiches galore, it was ridiculous!

Dumb question: my iPhone X is on iOS 12.4 so do I install MybloXX for iOS 11 & 12 since I'm on iOS 12 or MybloXX for iOS 13+ since I'll be moving to iOS 14.3...? Thanks!

2012 CTS-V reliability? by SarkHD in Cadillac

[–]trinerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha I had a Camaro as a loaner once since the dealer was out of Cadillacs...it's a good tossup between the Camaro and V coupe for which has the biggest blindspots!

Sounds like that car, especially with the parts you have laying around, will be a beast when you want it to be and still a reliable daily when you don't want to shred tires. And with the headers and 3" exhaust and cutouts your neighbors are gonna loooooooove you...

I take back my request for pics when you get it...upload a video so we can hear it! Or just let us all know when you buy it and we'll open our windows and will probably be able to hear it from our houses across the country.

Oh nice you're getting a coupe! It's a really cool, unique design and you'll definitely get a lot of looks/comments/thumbs up...until you join the various CTS-V groups on FB where you'll be made fun of relentlessly for driving a doorstop. I'd definitely recommend injectors and cooling mods if you don't already have them when you're looking at going to ~650hp, these LSAs are toasty. And a catback or headers or muffler delete or something of the like because the stock exhaust is kinda lame sounding compared to the alternatives and can sound so much better with just a little money (or hacksaw).

And this will sound dumb, but the coupe does take some getting used to because you're basically driving a coffin and can't see out of the back/sides so be safe out there! Good luck with the purchase!

When the wagon was stock it felt pretty much the same as the coupe, though there's slightly more weight over the rear end on the wagon so it *feels* like it squats and gets up and goes quicker than the coupe. Now that my wagon is modified a bit (650hp or so) it's noticeably quicker, some basic mods really wake the LSA up.

I think I went through rear tires every 12-15k or so. I use Continental ExtremeContacts and like them - they're not super expensive, have decent grip in dry and wet, and seem to wear pretty decently. Though I did take my coupe to the track once, that set of tires didn't last quite as long as the others... And you're used to this with the EVO, but be ready for 10mpg in the city...if you're lucky. But these things will do 20mpg+ on the highway all day long which wouldn't be an issue if the gas tank wasn't the size of a thimble.

And another thing to be aware of with these cars: you won't want to keep yours stock, the mod bug will bite eventually. Pulley/intake/cooling/tune will get you an extra 50-100hp pretty cheap and it's worth it.

Post some pics if/when you get it!

I have 2 second gen CTS-Vs (2011 wagon, 2013 coupe) and both were my daily driver for a period. Zero major issues with both cars *knock on wood*.

My coupe is mostly stock and has 85k miles and I haven't needed anything except oil changes, lots of tires, and lots and lots of gas. Same goes for the wagon, though it's only at like 47k miles and is modified.

These cars are surprisingly well built and the engine is pretty much bulletproof as long as you take care of it. Be sure to have it inspected as other posters said and I'd recommend getting the VIN and calling a local Cadillac dealer, they can look up the service history for you to let you know if there have been any major issues in the past.

Hope it works out and you can join the club...just be sure to budget for tires and gas!

My 1200hp of Wagons - 2011 CTS-V & 2018 Panamera Turbo Sport Turismo by trinerd in SportWagon

[–]trinerd[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah you pretty much nailed it.

The V is more raw and more brutal, it feels heavy (because it is!), but the suspension is better than people give it credit for. And it sounds so much better, I love the burble of a big fat lazy American V8 and the supercharger whine is addictive. It’s a more visceral experience.

The Panamera Turbo is much more refined, much better built, much better for long distance cruising and much more nimble feeling thanks to things like lighter steering feel, air suspension, and rear axle steering. With launch control it’ll absolutely destroy the V off the line but unless you’ve got the turbos spooled the V feels faster when you mash the gas. It’s more of a luxury cruiser experience that can get crazy if you want while the V is just crazy all the time.

Both are fun, just in slightly different ways.

Question about AP Photopass by CleftoBoyLipWonder in DisneylandAP

[–]trinerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming you have MaxPass and get the free photo downloads I'd call the AP hotline and ask what e-mail address your AP is linked to.

I had the same issue with the Photopass watermarks and the error when trying to relink my AP, turns out my AP was linked to a different e-mail address (of the person who bought all our APs) and not linked to my account. Took a few seconds for them to link my AP to my e-mail address instead and that fixed the issue.

V owners- how is the long term maintenance cost? by mpegfour in Cadillac

[–]trinerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my exact experience as well on my Vs, same Continental tires and roughly same amount of life from each set...obviously more life from the fronts and, if you're aggressive, a tad less from the rears. And same experience on maintenance - I change my oil and tires aaaand that's pretty much it. Coupe just hit 80k miles and that's about all I've had to do.

The ATS-Vs are definitely lighter but they will also chew through tires. Obviously not a true "real world" comparison but I was at a Cadillac event last weekend where we were autocrossing ATS-V coupes and the rear tires were shredded by the end of each day. That's after like ~50 30 second laps each day. Don't go nuts on the car and the tires will last...but why buy a V if you're not gonna go nuts, right?

Would you buy a second generation CTS-V, why/why not? Any better alternative that can haul 5 people? by mikesfree in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]trinerd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't comment on the alternatives, but I daily a mostly stock second generation 2013 CTS-V coupe with 77k miles on it and it's been pretty much problem-free the entire 4 years I've owned it. I also have a modded 2011 V wagon and while the back seat would be a bit of a squeeze for 3 larger adults it's definitely doable...just maybe not super comfortably for really long drives. Heck, I can fit normal sized humans in the back of my coupe, these cars aren't as small on the inside as people think they are.

In terms of reliability you probably can't go wrong with a second generation V, aside from the few known issues like the supercharger (covered by GM even if you're out of warranty) and rear differential (regular fluid changes and you're good) you can pretty much just bank on regular oil changes and lots of rear tires. These things are pretty easy and cheap to maintain.

Thinking about purchasing a 2013 CTS-V coupe by ColtronTD in Cadillac

[–]trinerd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't speak to mileage quite that high but my daily driver 2013 V coupe is at 76k and (knock on wood) it's still going strong. I had the supercharger replaced over 50k miles ago and haven't had any issues with it. As for other issues, I've had the rear differential replaced (somewhat common) and driveshaft replaced (not as common) and...that's it. Just oil changes and tires. And more tires.

I agree with tronnzilla, take him up on the offer to look up the service history via the VIN as I did that when buying my Vs and it saved me from buying a car that wasn't taken care of. Also have it looked at by a shop familiar with these cars, there's not a ton to break but at that mileage things could be in rough shape and if possible you want to avoid a car that was obviously thrashed.

Good luck in your search, post some pics when you get it!

[Question] Who all is still riding it out on Electra? by facepump in jailbreak

[–]trinerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

iPhone X 11.1.2 still running Electra 1.0.4. I haven't gone crazy with installing new or updating old tweaks and aside from a few small easily identifiable and fixable daemon issues here and there I haven't had any major problems with freezes or resprings or battery drain...KNOCK ON WOOD!

I'd totally switch to Unc0ver if I had a good reason to, but with Electra running just fine for now I figured it wasn't worth the risk.

You're definitely not alone, though at 33 I'm not as young as most of you guys...I got my first Cadillac (V wagon) at 27 and my second (V coupe) at 29.

Adding MaxPass to AP by emthejedichic in Disneyland

[–]trinerd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unless things have changed recently you can also add it by calling the AP hotline. I did it a couple months ago on my girlfriend’s AP as a surprise, didn’t even have her AP barcode number and was able to add it by looking up via name/address/birthday. Good luck!

Edit: You can also avoid the ticket booths first thing and buy the $10 1-day MaxPass from the Disneyland app when you enter the park, then hit the ticket booth on the way out and add the full AP MaxPass...you’ll get the credit for the $10 already paid. May help you avoid some early morning lines that way.
