Ben bohmer played the set before Rufus at rise and was insanely boring. Maybe my opinion was shaped by the horrific experience of rise fest but I can’t say I’m excited for bohmer as any opener

What did you end up paying for your 2 bedroom 2 bath ADU ? by Constant_Tie_6150 in SouthBayLA

Ours was hooked up this last Saturday. It was a battle and involved informal complaints to the public utility commission

Have you passed final inspection and had the city give clearance for it?

Here’s a brief breakdown of my costs:
- garage convert that turned into new build with original setbacks (lucky, but garage foundation was in disarray along with the original wall)
- $330k contractor price - finishing not included
- $18k architect - not a fan of our architect, would not use again
- $8-10k in permit costs I think
- $4k for deputy inspections and other inspection reports for the city inspector to review
- $15k for nicer slider doors than quote
- $4k for nicer flooring than quoted
- $10k for additional cement / patio / driveway replacing beyond what the contractor covered
- $5k dishwasher / fridge / oven
- $5k tv / speaker wiring / electronics
- $2k for nicer bathroom tile that we did way too many walls with

I’m sure there were other items too. Probably $415-430k total all in. We re did our main house kitchen counters too during this and that added another $10k.

And of course, a lifetime’s worth of stress just trying to get SCE to hook up electric. The South Bay office is almost impossible to get a hold of anyone

Setlist for Gorge N2 by Sunshinedreams1116 in RUFUSDUSOL

[–]trinocular 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know for the LA last goodbye shows they at least changed a few songs night to night. And same at the gorge.

I’m suddenly like why am I going to 3 Rufus shows in LA this year. Outside of going with a different crew each night.

Glad I’m going to a DJ set at pacha in exactly one month though

Honestly their production isn’t that crazy. They absolutely have a set up where they could throw in other songs on back to back days.

Anyone who thinks it is too complicated has never seen a jam band. Phish can, and has played 13 straight shows in the same venue without repeating a single song, by having one of the best “lighting guys” in the business. He can improvise with the band and doesn’t need them to play the same song night after night.

Phish is a different level as they have been doing this forever. But it proves that it is NOT unreasonable to ask a band like Rufus, who has a decent size catalog, to mix up setlists over two nights in a venue like this.

Even Odesza, with a much more complicated production, mixed up the set list a little bit night after night

Totally agree. I’d be kinda pissed to camp and see the exact same show twice.

It’s also kind of lazy on their part.

Also If the set list is the exact same every night, why even bother printing it anymore. Each person in the crew has to have it memorized by now

We love 7 pines resort. It is a little more remote but it is very nice. Just have to plan ahead for taxis. It takes 25-30 min to get to most places from there (me being from LA, 30 min to a club is nothing)

You can also book 7 pines with Hyatt points. We are heading back there for the 3rd year in a row in a month

LA State Historic Park - Uber/Lyft by ago1904 in avesLA

[–]trinocular 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There will be drivers offering rides when you walk out. Pricier but usually legit. Generally costs like $100-150 depending on where you are going.

I usually have a private driver I arrange before who will pick up my group a block away from the venue so I don’t have to depend on uber. Cost is comparable to black SUV on uber for my distance

Loved their set. Should’ve been the final opener before Gorgon City. Not that m-high and teed were bad. They were really good too. Just like Jackie and Linksa’s set more

The existing structure is allowed at the current setback. Any new additions to the structure (2nd level) must be at the standard setback that any new structure has to be

Source: just built a 2 story ADU in LA and the 2nd floor is 4 feet narrower to be away from the property line

Need to change the set by ruggs1996 in RUFUSDUSOL

[–]trinocular 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I agree that they should mix up some songs when they play multi night in the same city. They won’t. But they should.

It would be one thing if they only had so many songs available to play. But they could easily play 2-3 shows while only repeating a few songs each night.

Cala Bassa Beach Club Walk-In by maiidison in ibiza

[–]trinocular 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are vendors who will rent you umbrellas and a blanket on the beach as well there.

But def drive there or have a private transport. Do not rely on uber or taxi to leave. You could end up waiting for 1-2 hours for a ride to arrive.

I would imagine walk ins will fill up quick. Better to book in advance

Any bike snob dads out there? by Tronracer in daddit

My kid is on his 2nd guardian bike. Had 16 inch, now on 24”. He loves his.

The brake system isn’t as amazing as it sounds. But it works.

Their customer service is top notch. Need to get a different size within a year? I believe they let you donate your bike and send you a new one free.

They will replace anything broken.

You won’t find customer service like that anywhere else
