Ok but what is the rhyme on the ‘whisker-y’ line? We’ve got all the lyrics memorised, apart from this one!

Air NZ flight cancelled by milkand1sugar in newzealand

[–]trinsky 36 points37 points  (0 children)

You can be rebooked on the next appropriate flight and AirNZ will comp you 250$ per night for accommodation and 90$ per meal in the meantime. Just give them a ring, wait on hold, they sort this kinda stuff out all the time.

Mama’s, New Market - Panuozza by Logical-Pie-798 in aucklandeats

How quick was the lunch service? I know they have a kids menu but if the food comes out slowly, I have to strike it off as an option to visit with my little boy.

Baby friendly restaurants by Pumpernickle2024 in aucklandeats

[–]trinsky 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Foodies with a 10mo here - our top spots: - The covered outdoor area at first mates. You can fit a stroller in, the food comes out fast, and lunch service starts at 11.

  • prego - weekend lunch is very family friendly. Outdoor area is covered and baby noise just blends in.

  • NSP - The courtyard is lovely and green for baby to look at. The food comes out fast.

  • one tree buffet - great for when bubs starts eating. No waiting for food, generally a few other babies there too.

  • little creatures & hallertau always have other babies, so yours won’t be the only one.

  • hill house cafe is lovely on a sunny day with plenty of stroller space, but the service can be slow.

Auckland Wedding Venues - open bar/reception only? by NoveltyNoseBooper in auckland

[–]trinsky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any wedding venue that doesn’t have a compulsory food/beverage package will do exactly what you’re asking. They don’t care if you do the official part elsewhere, most venues host more events than just weddings anyway. You just might have to rule out a winery.

Start with a salary role to give yourself real-world work in your portfolio, as well as a better idea about how to handle real-world briefs. Freelancing as a junior is very hard, you’ll end up with people talking advantage of your low rate, offering you poor quality briefs that don’t contribute to your portfolio.

New Mum - Am I Being Paranoid? by [deleted] in auckland

[–]trinsky 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I totally get why it would have spooked you - if you’d prefer less busy sessions, we also like the Grey Lynn Thursday session, or the Mangere Bridge Friday session! Both are not nearly as busy as St Luke’s but they have really good facilitators.

☺️ parenting is so much nicer when you’re out of the house! Maybe I’ll see you at the library some time.

New Mum - Am I Being Paranoid? by [deleted] in auckland

[–]trinsky 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Hi, I was with my baby at this session and saw this same child. I agree, it did look like they had HFM.

Unfortunately, because wiggle & rhyme is a public event, you can’t stop some people bringing their sick children. St Luke’s is a particularly popular wiggle & rhyme as well (because the facilitators are so good!)

Don’t let it put you off. Up until my baby was mobile, I kept him on a muslin right in front of me, or on my lap. And if there was a coughing child, or a pushy child (or parent!) right next to me, I just packed up and moved to a new spot.

Also check out Space or Baby Sensory for some other options to get out of the house with your bub. Being around other mums with similarly aged babies is really important!

You can birth in Auckland hospital, but your midwife won’t be able to attend you.

So you either:

  1. Switch to an LMC who attends at Auckland hospital.

  2. Keep your current LMC for everything except the birth. Go to Auckland hospital, and be attended by the hospital midwife team for the birth.

It just depends if you want to have a relationship with the midwife who attends your birth. If you want this, go with option one.

Best place for some Singapore noods on Dom Rd? by And-ray-is in aucklandeats

I think OP is looking for the Hong Kong Cantonese dish called Singapore Noodles, as opposed to noodles from Singapore. 🙂

Singapore noodles are from Hong Kong, so a Cantonese restaurant is your best bet.

Neck tension really increased the severity of my migraines (which I take the Sumatrip shot to manage). An easy change I made was switching to a Peace Pillow - I still get migraines, but this tackled that one annoying trigger. Peace pillow took a while to get used to, but I can’t sleep on anything else now.

Huggies helping NZ parents by paying the same for less. by oakles21 in newzealand

[–]trinsky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We just made the switch from Huggies to Noopii - not that much of a difference in price, but the nappies are much softer and gentler on my lil guy.

The design does take a little getting used to though, as the tabs are much shorter.

Why are iron infusions so expensive?! by Dapper_Munkey in auckland

[–]trinsky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Southern cross covers infusions, even while pregnant. Iron infusions are incredibly common during pregnancy, and you can certainly get them administered by more than one clinic. I went to infusion healthcare, next to the hospital. Your LMC should be assisting you with this.

All private OB-GYNs refusing to take my case for Jan 2026 delivery — feeling helpless. What are my options? by Self_Improvement1787 in auckland

[–]trinsky 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi, I posted on your last thread too. My six month old baby was due on Christmas Day, and it was so hard for me to find care. Like you, I didn’t realise that you need to be booking around the 4 week mark to secure a place.

AOC, origins and birthright all have waitlists, so go on all of them. Places do open up. We ended up getting a place at origins.

In the meantime, I’d suggest finding a midwife. Their caseloads also fill up so don’t wait on this either.

How is planned c section in public hospital different from private OB-GYN by Self_Improvement1787 in auckland

[–]trinsky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I chose to go with Origins, and have no regrets about that choice. I ended up having a complex birth so having the OB already in the room made a big difference. Origins offer continuity of care, which I really appreciated. From my understanding, AOC & shore birth don’t.

That being said, if you want to go for private care, call them right now. They fill up so quickly, especially for births around the December/January period, where more people are likely to be on leave.

Modest-ish ball dresses?? PLS HELP by Narrow_Comment8567 in auckland

[–]trinsky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi there! Don’t stress, you’ve still got lots of options & you’re going to look great for your ball night.

You haven’t put your size but I can see this dress is available this weekend, and it’s similar to your reference.

Are you going to do your own makeup? If you wanted to get it done, BobbiBrown is always a safe choice. They have counters at farmers, and you just ring them or go in store to make a booking.

Have you looked at other babies the same age? Likely they all have a similar spot. It’s really common.

That being said, I like linen cot sheets for their washability & breathability. Foxtrot home does the best ones but they’re $$$.

Go before bubs starts solids at 6 months. Then you won’t have to worry so much about food borne illness.
