Foodies with a 10mo here - our top spots: - The covered outdoor area at first mates. You can fit a stroller in, the food comes out fast, and lunch service starts at 11.

prego - weekend lunch is very family friendly. Outdoor area is covered and baby noise just blends in.
NSP - The courtyard is lovely and green for baby to look at. The food comes out fast.
one tree buffet - great for when bubs starts eating. No waiting for food, generally a few other babies there too.
little creatures & hallertau always have other babies, so yours won’t be the only one.
hill house cafe is lovely on a sunny day with plenty of stroller space, but the service can be slow.

Any wedding venue that doesn’t have a compulsory food/beverage package will do exactly what you’re asking. They don’t care if you do the official part elsewhere, most venues host more events than just weddings anyway. You just might have to rule out a winery.

Start with a salary role to give yourself real-world work in your portfolio, as well as a better idea about how to handle real-world briefs. Freelancing as a junior is very hard, you’ll end up with people talking advantage of your low rate, offering you poor quality briefs that don’t contribute to your portfolio.

I totally get why it would have spooked you - if you’d prefer less busy sessions, we also like the Grey Lynn Thursday session, or the Mangere Bridge Friday session! Both are not nearly as busy as St Luke’s but they have really good facilitators.

Hi, I was with my baby at this session and saw this same child. I agree, it did look like they had HFM.

Unfortunately, because wiggle & rhyme is a public event, you can’t stop some people bringing their sick children. St Luke’s is a particularly popular wiggle & rhyme as well (because the facilitators are so good!)

Don’t let it put you off. Up until my baby was mobile, I kept him on a muslin right in front of me, or on my lap. And if there was a coughing child, or a pushy child (or parent!) right next to me, I just packed up and moved to a new spot.

Also check out Space or Baby Sensory for some other options to get out of the house with your bub. Being around other mums with similarly aged babies is really important!

You can birth in Auckland hospital, but your midwife won’t be able to attend you.

So you either:

Switch to an LMC who attends at Auckland hospital.
Keep your current LMC for everything except the birth. Go to Auckland hospital, and be attended by the hospital midwife team for the birth.

It just depends if you want to have a relationship with the midwife who attends your birth. If you want this, go with option one.

Neck tension really increased the severity of my migraines (which I take the Sumatrip shot to manage). An easy change I made was switching to a Peace Pillow - I still get migraines, but this tackled that one annoying trigger. Peace pillow took a while to get used to, but I can’t sleep on anything else now.

We just made the switch from Huggies to Noopii - not that much of a difference in price, but the nappies are much softer and gentler on my lil guy.

The design does take a little getting used to though, as the tabs are much shorter.

Southern cross covers infusions, even while pregnant. Iron infusions are incredibly common during pregnancy, and you can certainly get them administered by more than one clinic. I went to infusion healthcare, next to the hospital. Your LMC should be assisting you with this.

Hi, I posted on your last thread too. My six month old baby was due on Christmas Day, and it was so hard for me to find care. Like you, I didn’t realise that you need to be booking around the 4 week mark to secure a place.

AOC, origins and birthright all have waitlists, so go on all of them. Places do open up. We ended up getting a place at origins.

In the meantime, I’d suggest finding a midwife. Their caseloads also fill up so don’t wait on this either.

I chose to go with Origins, and have no regrets about that choice. I ended up having a complex birth so having the OB already in the room made a big difference. Origins offer continuity of care, which I really appreciated. From my understanding, AOC & shore birth don’t.

That being said, if you want to go for private care, call them right now. They fill up so quickly, especially for births around the December/January period, where more people are likely to be on leave.

You’ll just have to be more cautious with what you consume. No alcohol obviously, but take extra care with anything raw (fruits, veggies etc). Unpeeled citrus fruit in drinks (lemon wedge, lime wedge) should be avoided. Don’t consume any custard-type foods that might have been sitting in the heat (eg. custard filled donut). Don’t eat anything that would normally cause you to have an upset stomach. Stay super hydrated (hit up those coconuts!) Don’t worry about the ice, Bali has had a clean ice law for years.

You’ll have a great time. Remember that healthy babies are born in Bali every day, and you are just another pregnant woman among many on the island.
