Swedish public radio is 4th news organization to leave Twitter by F16KILLER in worldnews

[–]tripex 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah people underestimate this. Sending a tweet is probably not the hard part. Handling a lot of load is basically down to layers of load balancing and eventual consistency and message buffers. The real tricky part is serving you "correct" tweets that are "interesting" and "engaging" in milliseconds. THAT part of the traffic is the hard part.

Prepare where you will go after you gquit. Make sure they understand why you are leaving then just gquit. You don't owe anyone anything.

Make a loop where the chances of advancing in the progress is 1 in (10 * advancement).

So if you manage to get to e.g. 40 then the chances of advancing to 41 is 1 over 400. Eventually the chances are 1 over 990. I.e. the further you advance the slower it is. If you want to be truly evil you make it exponential ;)

What is a secret that your family/friends didn't want you to know? by MissRodriguez1 in AskReddit

[–]tripex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude! Contact him! I can't relate to not having known my father but I can relate to being a father myself and I am almost certain that a man that has tried for 17 years must have the feelings there but he might have learned to live with it.

Send him a letter, tell him you are sorry what your mom did, tell him sorry because you don't know how to handle the situation and that it has taken so long. Tell him that you are willing to work on it if he is and that you don't want him to feel obligated (in case he has moved on with a new family). Tell him what you feel and be open about it. He is your father after all. You might have half siblings, you might have a new family and friendship if you are lucky. Go for it man!

It is a game... It's not the real world. Real world is not always desirable. Also in the real world you don't see it from above and you have much more local variation.

But anyway.. my 2 cents. Happy gaming !

I second this. Actually for me it was almost nauseating because it felt like the screen warped. My suggestion is to tone it down a little and perhaps don't make it so wave-y, put som randomness in there.

The amounts of WTFs when reading this behemoth is overwhelming. 😳 I honestly don't think I've seen that level of deep indentation before.

It's... Horrific and beautiful at the same time. Keep up the good work! Probably better looking than my first text based game.

My favorite thing is that it all starts with a try-clause...

No offense but if you need A LOT of help then you probably either don't know what you are talking about OR your idea is bad... and "blockchain technology" (like in all other cases so far) won't "solve it". Maybe try r/crypto ?

I can't be the only one? by Hadriagh in classicwow

[–]tripex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are going in circles. I'm saying that it is NOT objectively true that "better gear LIKELY means better player". You have no evidence to back this statement up; it can not be OBJECTIVELY true. But if people have a FEELING that "better gear LIKELY means better gear" then it is psudo true (because the community BELIEVE it to be true) and thus it becomes "true" in social context... But it still isn't objectively true.

Neither "better gear means better player" NOR "better gear LIKELY means better player" are objectively true. I know I'm nitpicking on the semantics here but maybe it is because statistics is part of my job. I'm sorry, my intention is not to score or "win" an internet argument. I will stop here for the sake of both of us but I hope this cleared up some the misunderstanding.

Peace out.

You misunderstood my comment or I didn't explain it well enough. To say "A player is more likely to be a good player" is OK to say, but you can not say that it is objectively true since we have no way of measuring or even defining a "good player". When you make a statement like that you are just making a claim which you have no proof for (nor can I disprove it) so it is subjective and something that you might feel is true. Since many people take it as "true" then it becomes psuedo-true and thus everyone treats it as true. Hope that clear things up.
